Sleep Apnoea can cause headaches, groggyness and even migraines.
It makes sense.... Sleep Apnoea is a condition that causes you to stop breathing when you are asleep. When you don't breathe you are essentially suffocating, putting huge amounts of stress on your body. Hence the headaches.
Having a sleep study will help identify if sleep apnoea is contributing to your headaches and it can be done in your own bed!

Sleep studies are often used to get a snapshot of what is happening with your brain and body when you sleep.
Your heart rate, oxygen levels, are you dreaming, did you go into deep sleep etc.
Sleep studies are used to diagnose sleep-related breathing disorders (like sleep apnoea), periodic limb movement disorder (restless legs), sleep disorders that cause extreme daytime tiredness (narcolepsy), sleep-related movement disorders (sleepwalking or eating) and can assist with the diagnosis of insomnia.
So there is more than just snoring to this assessment and can be beneficial to a lot of people that wake up feeling like they haven't slept.
Place of Dreams can help you with a Home Based sleep study.

Most of us associate sleep apnoea with snoring, and you would be right!
This is a big indicator of a restricted airway. However, a true apnoea can be 100% silent. ๐คซ
When you aren't breathing you aren't making a sound. This can be truly terrifying for your bed partner. They watch you suddenly stop breathing and count the seconds until you breathe again, often with a gasp.
Please know your bed partner truly cares about you when they bring this up. They aren't lying or trying to trick you. They watch you night after night suddenly look like you have died in your sleep.
Having this investigated can be life changing for both you and your partner.

Curious about what happens during a home-based sleep study? ๐ค
You'll spend the night in your own bed, where sensors will monitor your brain activity, eye movements, heart rate, breathing, and oxygen levels. In the morning, you can remove the sensors and return the equipment to your set-up clinic.
It's that easy. ๐ด๐
Preparing for a home-based sleep study? Here are some tips! ๐
โ๏ธFollow your regular sleep routine as closely as possible.
โ๏ธShower before you attend your wire-up appointment
๐คWear comfortable loose clothing.
Remember to drop the study device back to your set-up clinic the next morning.
It's ok, you will sleep during the study. Just relax; you are in your own bed. ๐๐
Sleep studies are recommended for those who experience symptoms like excessive daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, gasping for air during sleep, or chronic insomnia. Place of Dreams does home-based sleep studies. Talk to your doctor if you think you might benefit from a sleep study and they can refer you to Place of Dreams! ๐ฉบ๐ค
Ever wondered what a sleep study is? ๐ค
A sleep study, also known as polysomnography, is a test that records your body's activity during sleep to diagnose sleep disorders. It's not just for sleep apnea. It can help identify other issues like insomnia, and restless legs syndrome. ๐๐
Place of Dreams can support you with a home based sleep study.

Did you wake up with water in your mask?
a bubbling noise in your tube?
Do you feel like your device pressure isn't the same?
Our nighttime temperature has dropped quite a bit in the last few nights. This is causing a few of you to wake up with an unpleasant wet feeling or rainout.
But - It's easy to fix!
Just turn the humidity down! This will add less moisture to your air and prevent it from becoming water droplets inside your mask or tube. When the weather warms up again just increase your humidity to match.

I know you all want that expensive CPAP mask to last a lifetime, but... ๐ฑ Some of the headgear we see in the clinic look worse than a fratboy's luck jocks! stretched, velcro barely holding, staples, home sewing, electrical tape!
A headgear generally only lasts 12 months. You are stretching it every day taking it off and on. It's absorbing the oil and sweat off your skin. Washing it once a week at a bare minimum will extend its life but replacing it at 12 months is recommended. Take advantage of our end-of-financial year sale and get a FREE spare headgear when you purchase a full ResMed mask.
