Sprint Digital
We empower business and people to achieve their goals, to the best of their ability, through technology.
From turf to tech, hereβs how Turfware is transforming its industry π±
Toby, the founder of Turfware, has spent years in the turf industry, dealing firsthand with the frustrations of paper-based operations and the lack of turf-specific tools.
Drawing on his experience, Toby partnered with Sprint to develop a custom application that sought to streamline these industry-specific challenges in one solution.
What started as a product for his own work eventually evolved into Turfware, a powerful tool that automates sales management, deliveries, harvesting, customer engagement and all that stands in between.
Now available to the masses, Turfware takes care of the hard yards, so you can focus on the greener things.

Jack, our PM, shares with us his daily to-dos, keeping partners in the loop, and his secret weapon for project success.
Q: What's your favourite part of the Sprint office? π’
A: I love the daily standup meeting, it really helps us solidify the week's plan and track how tasks are progressing as the week rolls on. It is also a great tool for PM's to identify issues early on and clear the path for our awesome team of devs to do what they do best.
Q: How do you keep Sprint's partners updated throughout a project? βοΈ
A: Depending on the project size, we hold regular meetings (daily, weekly, or bi-weekly) with email, phone, and stay in touch with Slack updates in between.
Q: What project management software can't you live without? βοΈ
A: Hands down, Jira! It's the central hub for all our project activity, keeping everything organised and on track.

π We heard through the grapevine what people have been saying about custom software.
So, today we'd like to play a game called Myth vs. Reality - Custom Software edition.
β Myth #1: Only big companies need custom software
β
Reality: Businesses of all sizes can reap the rewards of custom software. Regardless of company size, it helps you address specific needs, gain a competitive edge, and improve customer experiences. In fact, opting for custom software early on can be a strategic move. Off-the-shelf software might seem like a quick fix, but it often lacks the flexibility to adapt to your evolving needs. Down the line, you might face a major migration hassle to a new system β a costly and time-consuming process.
β Myth #2: Custom software is too hard for my team to use
Reality: User-friendliness is a core principle at Sprint. We don't just build software; we build solutions your team will love to use. Through workshops, we collaborate and work directly with your team members to understand their needs and workflows. This in-depth understanding allows us to design custom software that's intuitive and easy to learn. The result? Seamless adoption, minimised training time, and maximised user satisfaction.
β Myth #3: Custom software is too expensive
β
Reality: While upfront costs exist for custom software, they offer long-term value. It streamlines processes, and boosts productivity, saving you money in the long run. Here's the kicker: Off-the-shelf software often involves ongoing subscription fees that can add up quickly, especially as your team grows. With custom software, you own the solution and avoid these recurring costs.

β Here's one design mistake we see too oftenβ¦
And it's a very common one, according to our UX/UI Designer, Krystel.
π "A mistake I used to make, and one I notice that junior designers make, is under/overestimating space in a design. A design with a lot of space between elements may feel clean when looking at the design in your design file, but it may not translate to the best UX when implemented.
The reverse also applies when elements are too cramped together. It's always important to prototype designs and look at them to scale and be ready to make adjustments."
Here's the secret trick: Krystel uses a scaling system (like an 8-point grid) to keep things consistent and organised.
What are some common design mistakes that you've noticed? Let us know in the comments! π
π Level up your app with these 3 UX/UI feature π
While engaging and intuitive user experience should be the core focus of your design, here are three UX/UI features you should consider incorporating:
π€ Chatbots and voice assistants: Conversational interfaces are the future of user experience, and Sprint can help you build an AI-powered experience that feels natural, informative, and helpful.
π± Micro-interactions: Don't underestimate the impact of subtle, well-crafted animations. These micro-interactions add a layer of polish and responsiveness to your software, enhancing user experience and driving engagement.
π² Accessibility: Not a trend, but a core principle. Inclusive design will ensure your software is accessible to a broader audience, regardless of ability.

5 reasons why custom software crushes off-the-shelf software π²
π₯ Snug fitβIf your business is unique, a one-size-fits-all off-the-shelf solution isn't going to cut it. Custom software is built for your business, streamlining your processes and eliminating frustrating workarounds.
π₯ Future-proof - Custom software grows with your business, adapting to your changing needs and ensuring you always have the necessary tools.
π₯ A merry team: Easy-to-use custom software makes life easier for you and your team. Custom software will possess easy-to-navigate interfaces and intuitive features tailored to your business's workflow.
π₯ Productivity boost: Custom software integrates seamlessly with your existing systems, creating a streamlined workflow that lets your team focus on what matters most.
π₯ A stop to subscription: Off-the-shelf software means never-ending payment requirements. Custom software eliminates the need for continued subscriptions and puts you in control of your budget.

If the EOFY reared its head before you had a chance to hit your financial goals - let this year be a different story.
Here are 3 signs it's time to book your workshop with our team π
1) Same, same but no difference π - If you're stuck in a rut of repetitive tasks (think data entry, writing reports, manually tracking every nook and cranny of the business) then it's time to break free of these mind-numbing tasks with business automation.
2) Growing pains βοΈ - When business is rapidly expanding, the cracks in your operations can begin to show, so if your sales are scaling faster than your processes, it might be time to get a helping hand. Custom software can provide the room for growth you've been looking for. It's dynamic and works both ways, moving with your business as it ebbs and flows.
3) Struggling to stay organised π - If you've still not got yourself a central hub where you can clearly oversee your business, it's all too easy to lose track. Real-time insights mean you can eliminate the guesswork and effortlessly make informed business decisions.
To learn more about the benefits of custom software and what we'll cover in your workshop, get in touch with our team today at sprintdigital.com.au
Have you automated your payments? If not, here's a peek at the benefits you could be missing out onβ¦
1) Ditching the data entry π - Automating payments will save you and your team time, which can be reinvested into more productive activities.
2) Removing the room for error β οΈ - payment processing is much smoother without human error, and automating payments can help ensure information is accurate and timely.
3) Safety in software π€ - automated payments usually include a stack of safety features, protecting your business from fraud and scams whilst giving your customers and clients peace of mind.
4) Clearer view of your finances π» - real-time data means you can make more educated decisions based on accurate information that's readily on hand.

Contemplating a cross-platform build? π² Here are three reasons why it's a yes from us
Firstly, if you're not familiar with React Native, it's a framework that allows you to build iOS and Android applications with one code base.
β
2 for 1 - React Native's beauty lies in it's one-codebase approach. You can write your app logic once and deploy it to both iOS and Android, making it time efficient, and cost effective.
β
Under the same roof - there's no need to go on a two-team quest for React Native. A single in-house team (like ours) can build and maintain both your iOS and Android apps.
β
Fuss-Free PrototypesβReact Native can help you whip up prototypes efficiently, meaning you can test and improve your applications faster.
If you think React Native is the right call for your app, we'd love to chat it through.

At Sprint, we deliver software that provides an engaging and intuitive user experience. π²
Krystel is our in-house UX/UI Designer who makes that happen.
π So what does Krystel believe makes a successful design?
"I believe that a design is successful when the product functions how users expect it to. While elements like colours, fonts, and styles are, of course, an essential part of creating a pleasant experience, a visually attractive product that is difficult to navigate is ineffective at the end of the day.
So, when designing a product, I always step back and view it from the perspective of a new user to ensure that all the elements on the screen work cohesively to guide users toward completing their intended tasks."
