Thank you for bearing with me during my radio silence, Socials have taken a backseat while I juggle The Sergery with becoming a mother but things are still puttering along behind the scenes.

My favourite colour combo from today's orders, dee-licious!
Look at what one of my fave home sewists .so.slow on instagram made out of our Aussie made cotton jersey! I love her use of scraps to jazz up some basic tees, and may have to sew my own version with stripy shoulders... π€ reckon it would look the right level of 'touch of nautical' in our navy shade?
Kylie and the Machine Advent Calendars now available in strictly limited quantities! Find them in the shop under notions then sewing labels β€
One of today's orders of bamboo with a lil' added sass π
Don't forget to have a browse of our notions before you check out in case your supplies are low, no one likes sitting down to a project and finding they're out of the right needles!
Also just a heads up there's just 1 metre left of our gorgeous dove bamboo! If you want to snap it up it's over in our remnants section for a special discounted price.

Mask mandates don't seem to be going anywhere so I'm adding to my collection this week with the super cute liberty deadstock we currently have in the shop! Florals for Spring? Ground breaking, I know. But they do make me happy when they look so pretty! π·
I'm using a basic 3-d mask pattern, if you have seen this type before and thought they look scary to make, please don't! They're actually the easiest and best fitting kind I've made so far, give them a try β¨
Find the fabric here https://the-sergery.com.au/products/liberty-tana-lawn-100-cotton-nina-in-blue-purple (p.s if you just use the liberty on the outer layer you can get up to four adult masks out of 25cm! Bargaiiiiin!)

Do you trace your patterns or are you team cut that s*** out?
I'm always fascinated by how people go about their sewing because we're all so different in our approaches! Of course it depends on things like our storage capabilities, time and access to extra materials required, but how do you like to treat your patterns?
I'm a big fan of tracing! But maybe not as you know it? With my favourite method I lay down a cutting mat, kraft paper, and then the (freshly pressed of course!) pattern over the top. Then I use a tracing wheel to transfer the pattern. Once I'm sure I've gone over everything I need it's as easy as drawing over the marks on the kraft paper with a skinny sharpie and writing any important notes on it.
Do you have any ways to improve? Tell me about it below!
How cute are these we**ie little baby pants!
Sewing for babies makes for quick and satisfying projects and our SO soft, breathable bamboo jersey is a perfect material against baby's delicate skin. Even better, Bamboo jersey doesn't tend to curl like Cotton jersey making it a bit easier to sew.
We have a range of colours in stock, including some nice gender neutrals for those keeping it a surprise
Come see our range at The Sergery to plan your oh-so-cute makes!

Ever had to buy an ENTIRE extra metre of fabric online to accomodate that extra 20cm of fabric you need for a pattern? Oof, not only does it sting your wallet but until you can think of another small project to use it up, the remainder is little more than a large scrap in your stash.
The Sergery happily sells our fabric at 25cm increments to help combat this! We're helping you save both at your hip pocket and to create less waste in the world. Every little bit helps after all π
So when you want a metre of fabric, add 4 of it to your cart. 1.75 metres? Add 7!
Create something beautiful and create less waste, we're here for that π
Hybrids are so much fun β€οΈ
Because of the mixed composition of Cupro, Linen and Tencel, this fabric has the benefits from all three fibres, it's a beautiful thing.
It has a little bit of body so it's not as bootylicious as 100% linen, and they resemble those lovely silk linen blends you love to touch. The depth of colour is also incredibly pretty and it wears like a dream.
And that tank I posted the other day? This is it! π€©
Click on the post for a closer look, available in two colours with more coming soon
Sending this gorgeous selection out this morning, some Bamboo Lycra, Gingham Linen and some Cupro Linen Tencel blend to even it out π

Our drapey bamboo lycra sews up into some awesome clothing!
As soon as my fiance saw and touched the bamboo he wanted a t-shirt, I obliged π
It's incredibly breathable, super soft and c-o-m-f-y, and the Neptune shade is a little unusual but unbelievably lush.
Have you worked with bamboo before? How did you go with it? β€οΈ
