Ladder wrap up.
With just two rounds to go, we'll spend this week wrapping up league positions for each of our teams and our prediction for how their season will finish.
Premier League.
The As have slipped to third after leading the league after losses to Linfield As and Turramurra, with disruptions in the squad hampering consistency in a league where just one or two slip-ups make the difference for teams at the top. But draws in the last two matches against these teams have shown that Northbridge can match it with the best and they will be hoping to bring this for in the final rounds against Turramurra and North Sydney. The As will be hoping to be crowned as the inaugural NSFA Women's Cup winners and league finalists.
Predictions:
League positions: 3rd (of 8 )
NSFA Women's Cup Winner
NSFA Premier League finalist
Playing a competitive and uncompromising style of play, the Bs have shown that they can match it with the top teams in the Premier League. A win and narrow loss to Turramurra have shown the ability of this team. But maintaining a consistent squad as the season has gone on has made things tough to take points week to week.
Prediction:
League position: 5th (of 8 )
NSFA Round 15 wrap
In the first uninterrupted (and dry) weekend all Northbridge teams UNDEFEATED!!!😍😍
In Premier League, the As needed to bounce back after being outplayed by Turramurra in the previous meeting. And they did so in style with a terrific first half. Mel Hirunsook's terrific left-foot strike gave a deserved lead that was doubled by Ella Boudakin on 35 minutes. Northbridge could have been out of sight just before halftime, but a one-on-one chance went high. But Turramurra are not top of the league for no reason, and wouldn't go away, scoring two unanswered second-half goals with it ending in a 2-2 draw. A special shout out to the three U16 players (Sophie, Izzy and Annabelle) who joined the As and showed the depth of the club.
In the other Premier League match, the Bs played out a 1-1 draw against West Pymble at Mills Park.
It was a COVID depleted U21 squad that made their way up to Berowra with just 10 players taking the field in their match against Northern Galaxy. But these 10 players were too strong running away with a strong 5-1 win.
In Div 4 it was a top-of-the-table clash for the Ds against St Ives. And the teams couldn't be separated in a 2-2 result that keep the Ds one point and GD clear on top. The Es were far too strong for Chatswood in a big 11-0 result.
After a string of losses, the O35s returned to the winner's list with a hard-won through points against Turramurra in a great 1-0 result.
Sorry to confirm (again) that there's no womens all of club training tonight.
Bicentennial closed due to 🌧🌧🌧
Good luck to all teams for matches this weekend.🔴⚪🔴⚪
Willoughby Council grass fields are closed so no women's all of club training at Bicentennial tonight.
Stay high and dry and good luck for games this weekend.
NSFA Women's Cup action.
Good luck to WAA A and U21 teams for their inaugural NSFA Cup matches tonight.
Will our up-and-coming U21 be PL giant-killers against Turramurra? Will the experience of WAA A be enough against the youthful energy of West Pymble U18?
These two great cup fixtures are being played at Blackman Park kick off 7.45pm.
Let's hope the weather holds 🤞🤞.
Good luck girls! 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️
Women's NSFA Rd 12 Wrap
In Premier League after a wobbly start, the As came roaring back from being three goals down to sn**ch a point against North Sydney at Cammeray. Despite dominating possession and threatening from the start, three lapses of concentration meant that with 20 minutes to go Northbridge looked gone for all money. But when Liv Kearey dribbled past the keeper to score a debut Premier League goal in the 72nd minute confidence was restored. And when just four minutes later Linda Carroll extended her scoring record to six consecutive matches from a 22 yard set piece strike the game came alive with Northbridge pressing hard. When Monique Millett beat the keeper at the near post to make it 3-3 with 8 minutes remaining a win was in sight, but North Sydney held on to share the points. This result saw Linfield As move above Northbridge As on the PL ladder with an exciting top of the table clash looming on Sunday.
It was another remarkable game in Div 2 with a severely depleted U21 side meeting Lane Cove and almost hanging on for a point, but going down 0-1. Full credit to the girls and a special shout out to the U16 Diamond League players who made the senior debut and showed the strength of the club in the youth Academy.
In Div 4 the Ds secured an excellent 3-1 result against Lane Cove to remain just one point behind the league leaders. The Es clash against top of the table St Ives proved to be the Div 4 match of the round. After plenty of chances for the red and white it was 0-0 at half time with confidence high. In the second half St Ives scored a freakish goal from nearly halfway only for Madeline Vaz to rub out their advantage with a fine headed equaliser. But late in the second half St Ives found the winner with a lucky goal, so while the plucky Es didn't secure competition points, they proved to all they can match it with any team in the league.
In O35, NOrthbridge went down narrowly to Kissing Point, and in the other Premier League match, Northbridge Bs game against Hornsby Heights was postponed.
Good luck to Northbridge As and U21s for their NSFA Cup quarter finals on Friday night!
Women's NSFA Round 11 Wrap
Our two Premier League teams both faced Linfield teams on Sunday with honours shared between the two big NSFA women's clubs. Northbridge Bs pushed hard, but couldn't quite go with Linfield As who took a 3-1 result at Charles Bean. Northbridge As had a big 9-2 result at Bicentennial, but they didn't have it all their own way, going a goal down after 5 minutes when Linfield stormed past an offside trap and scored on the break. But when Ella Kinnear headed home an red and white equaliser after a quarter of an hour the floodgates seemed to open. While team captain Linda Carroll lead the scoring with a well-desrved hat-trick secured in the final minute of the game, across the field the team showed what they are capable of as they head into the business end of the season.
In Div 2 the U21 team had a strong showing against North Sydney at Bicentennial coming away with a 6-2 win after playing the first half with just 10 players. Ella Pisani led the scoring with a fine hat-trick.
In Div 4 there was another big win for the Ds against Linfield as they consolidated their second position on the ladder. The Es were on the wrong side of a 4-0 scoreline against Lane Cove and will be looking to re-kindle early season form in the second half of the season.
The O35 side came away with a 3-3 draw against Greenwich SC to round out the weekend's result.
Northbridge undefeated all weekend.
Even with catch-up matches played over the long weekend, in a terrific club performance Northbridge Women were undefeated in all divisions. With lots of players juggling commitments over the long weekend, thank you to those players who helped out other teams to ensure we could put together teams across all Divisions.
In Premier League the As got the weekend off to a great start with a strong win over West Pymble with Ella Boudakin scoring four and Linda Carroll scoring a worldie from a corner kick. The Bs shared the points with Linfield Bs in a scoreless draw. Due to other results over the weekend the As have now gone clear at the top of the table.
In Div 2 the U21 couldn't quite turn the tables from the first game of the season against UTS Teal, but showed great character to fight back from being two goals down to draw 2-2. In a Monday catch up match the U21 secured a comfortable win against West Pymble.
It was three from three in Div 4 with the Ds getting home against Chatswood Rangers and Northern Galaxy to remain just one point behind league leaders St Ives. The Es returned to the winner's list this weekend getting the result against Northern Galaxy.
Rounding out a remarkable weekend of results for the club was O35 securing a comfortable 3-1 result against Chatswood Rangers.
Well done to everyone on a great weekend for the club.
NSFA Round 9 results.
It was a massive As v Bs clash at Bicentennial on Sunday, with the Bs starting very strongly, and they were unlucky to concede to a well-worked corner that saw Sarah Gordon head home for the As at the back post. The Bs pressure continued in the second half and it paid off in a goal mouth scramble that saw Chiara Schwarz score a deserved equalizer just before the hour mark. But scores were only level for 10 minutes when Linda Carroll finished a well-worked move to score the winner for the As. The quality of football in this As v Bs match is something the club is hugely proud of. Well done everyone!
In Div 2, U21 had two powerful wins against Northern Galaxy and Turramurra moving them to second place in the league. These were two great team performances, but congratulations to Annabelle Gilbert for scoring five goals in two matches.
There was no luck for the girls in Div 4 over the weekend with the Ds going down 0-1 to ladder leaders St Ives and the Es not quite able to get the job done against Linfield. O35 also had a tough day against North Turramurra going down 1-5.
Good luck to everyone for matches over the long weekend.
All of club women's training is on tonight (7.30pm Bicentennial). There's plenty to prepare for this weekend:
- Premier League bragging rights on the line for Northbridge A v B at Bicentennial.
- Two big games for U21 with the change to move up the ladder.
- A top of the ladder clash for WAA D v St Ives.
- A Northbridge v Linfield clash for WAA E as the PL curtain-raiser at Bicentennial
- O35 needing to secure a win against Nth Turramurra to stay in the top half of the table.
So...see you at Bicentennial tonight to sharpen up for the weekend.
🥅All Women's teams take the field 🥅
For the first time in weeks, the weather held for all of our Women's Teams to take the field for matches on the weekend. And there were some amazing matches!
In Premier League the Bs hosted Turramurra on Friday night at NBO. In an exciting match, Northbridge went ahead in the first half but just couldn't hold on with the visitors scoring twice in the second half with a vicious 22 yard strike in the dying minutes proving to be the winner for Turramurra reversing the result from round 1. The As got the job done in a fiery encounter at Hornsby Heights which included Liz Morrison scoring on an eagerly anticipated, but disrupted, return to the club after an early-season injury.
It was a case of 'normal service resumed' for the U21 with a big win in Div 2 against West Pymble, and it was great to see seven different goalscorers in their 11-2 result.
In Div 4 the Ds remain undefeated after a big win against Northern Galaxy and the scene is set for a terrific match next Sunday against the other undefeated Div 4 side St Ives. The Es remain in third place on the ladder with a 2-2 draw against Kissing Point.
The O35 secured their third win for the season with a tight 2-1 result against Turramurra Utd at Bicentennial on Sunday and remain in the top half of the Div 1 table.
Bicentennial Reserve is closed, so no all of club women's training tonight.🌧☔
Good luck to everyone for matches this weekend!
NSFA Round 7 results
In a rain disrupted rain round, WAA A and D had the weekend off due to ground closures. But the wet weather did not stop some amazing matches.
At Cammeray Oval in a six-goal Premier League thriller, WAA B highlighted their credentials by sharing the points with a very strong North Sydney team
The U21 had a tough night at the office on Saturday night, but we know they will bounce back strongly from a match where there was lots to learn for this young team.
In Div 4 11 tired Northbridge legs were down 2-0 against Chatswood at halftime. But it must have been a team talk for the ages because the girls came out a new team, with Natasha Reiss scoring a second-half hat trick and Renee Hurley also scoring for the girls to secure a brilliant 4-2 win.
In O35, the girls couldn't quite get the job done against Linfield at Charles Bean, but the 2-0 scoreline shows there's not much between Northbridge and the league leaders.
A State Cup miracle for Women's All Age A
Northbridge A made the long journey out to Camden on Sunday afternoon with tired legs and depleted numbers after their stirring win against North Sydney in the League on Friday night. But, with just 10 players available spirits were still high for the round 1 clash against Narellan Rangers from the Macarthur FA.
This sentiment seemed justified as Northbridge's early pressure was rewarded with an early goal and all seemed to be on track. But Narellan would not go away and the teams traded goals with the home team finding a way to equalise twice, only for each time Northbridge to go ahead again. After 35 minutes it was 3-2 to Northbridge.
Then on 40 minutes, the heroic Valerie Chang - already playing on one leg - succumbed to an injury and 10 players become 9. At halftime, the simple question was 'could the red and white hang on'?
The character of Northbridge shone through and the valiant 9 players didn't just hang on, but as the mist descended on a chilly evening at Field, they extended their lead to run out thoroughly deserved 5-2 winners on the night.
Well done on an amazing State Cup performance. 💪💪
Northbridge Women's NSFA results Round 6 🥅🥅
In the Premier League well done to Northbridge A and B who both got the job done against North Sydney and Hornsby Heights respectively.
In Div 2, Northbridge deferred their match against Northern Galaxy due to State Cup.
In Div 4 it was a Northbridge head-to-head nailbiter at Bicentennial with Northbridge D just getting the job done to move a point behind league leaders St Ives but having a game in hand.
Our O35 got the points in a great result against local rival North Sydney.
Well done to all teams for results across the board and good luck for matches this weekend!!

Northbridge celebrates Female Football Week
Lots of rain couldn't dampen the enjoyment of the club's three top Academy teams training together at Northbridge Oval on Wednesday night.
Great to have the All Age A, Under 21 and Under 18 squads all on the pitch together, with some great skills on display. Judging by what the coaches saw, the future of the womens game at Northbridge is in great shape!
Good luck to all teams for matches this weekend.
Northbridge go top of the Premier League
After securing an away point to Linfield A Northbridge As are now the only undefeated team in the NSFA Premier League and go one point clear at the top of the league. Northbridge B also shared the points with West Pymble at Bicentennial.
U21 are building momentum with their second successive win in Div 2 thanks to first-half goals from Ella Pisani and Liv Kearney against a determined Lane Cove team at Bicentennial.
In Div 4 at Primrose Park it was a big win for Northbridge D against Lane Cove, but Northbridge E couldn't quite get the job done against ladder leaders St Ives.
🟣🟣Best wishes to all teams for Female Football Week🟣🟣
All of club womens training.

A great set of May Day away wins for the club.
In Premier League, WAA A showed great fight to come back and secure three points after going a goal down at Charles Bean, but WAA B wasn't quite able to go with Linfield at Bicentennial.
In Div 2 the U21 team showcased their credentials with a powerful win against North Sydney.
It looks like something special might be on the cards in Div 4 with big two big wins for the club against Linfield and Land Cove.
Well done everyone, and good luck for this weekend!
⚪️🔴Northbridge PL teams go top.⚪️🔴
After two rounds it's Northbridge 1 and 2 at the top of the NSFA Premier League with Northbridge teams the only teams undefeated after two rounds.
There were plenty of goals at Chatswood HS on Sunday with Ella Boudakin scoring four of the six WAA A goals against West Pymble with the team also securing its second successive clean sheet.
WAA B shared the points with Linfield B, and a brave U21 team, with just nine players, went down 5-6 to UTS. In an amazing individual performance, Annabelle Gilbert scored all five of Northbridge's goals.
