Division 2 - Round 11 - Team of the Week

An absolutely star studded Team of the Week this week, after Mum's Leftovers got their season rolling with a 2nd win in 3 weeks, watch your backs Saffies, the Microwaved goods are coming - how good are Mum's re-heated dinners though, ah the memories...

FYI gents, the CC & Cola's went down a treat, I'm thinking it should become a weekly occurence!

HMS Leftovers Lost at Sea

After a long two weeks out in the open seas the ship boasting 5 anchors has yet to dock, and Port Royal was free to take the win.

Subpar defending, John was once again left out to dry; marooned and deserted on the backline.

A last ditch comeback wasn’t enough to guide the ship to victory, and the early lead from Port Royal cemented the red teams win.

A positive to take from the game is that the teams matching socks were in full display along with Adam returning from injury.

But the boys are hungry for more than just leftovers. They want the whole main course, appetisers too. More importantly, they want early games.

Another win for the night, was that we dodged the Zuccening. I guess it pays to label us as a catering service, rather than a news outlet.

Stay safe, stay humble. See you next time kings.

All Tied Up

Mum’s leftovers ended the night with another solid win over Dyslexia Untied.

An early lead from Dyslexia just wasn’t enough to secure victory, with a series of quick goals from the spaghetti warriors.

Out with another injury is core member John, who will be out for the next couple weeks with a toe injury (feet pics pending).

Special mentions for recurring substitutes Ali and Cody, who at this point are honorary cooks for Byford Futsals number one catering service.

Man of the match goes to Braydon, who netted a couple goals with the help of great passing from all members of the team.

Redefining possibilities may be the slogan for Dyslexia but there’s no redefining the facts. And the facts are lit up in neon lights on the gymnasium wall: 8-4.

All in all a good team effort to get the win verse a team that were good fun to play against.

Brodie and Adam are still out with injuries, and the continued support through these tumultuous times is much appreciated.

Stay safe, and we’ll see you next time.

Coming Back for Seconds

Just like lasagna, Mum’s Leftovers are always better on the second night. A solid win for the boys verse Unreal FC with a 4-3 victory.

2 goals apiece for both Josh and Nic cemented the victory. Man of the match, however, goes to our substitute keeper Alistair Jongeling who you might know from his multiple appearances in SFL saves of the week.

Honourable mention to Unreal FC’s keeper, who really lived up to their namesake. Literally. He just wasn’t there at times and Mum’s leftovers captialised on that.

Outside of the game, the team continues to suffer from injuries with Brodie “Yet to Play” Wagenaar slicing his hand open quite badly, and is currently waiting in the hospital for an operation at the time of this post.

Along with thoughts and prayers, monetary donations would be very much appreciated.

Adam Sibum is still out with his wrist injury, and hopes to be playing his first match some time this year.

All in all, a successful night for Byford Futsal’s number one catering service.

Stay safe and we’ll see you next week.

A Dire Start to the Season

Rebranded and reforged, it’s time say good bye to the iconic, yet subpar, Winterfox. And hello to the all new (but not really) Mum’s Leftover’s.

Part time futsal team, full time cookers.

Even before the first whistle, the team was struggling with injuries, with new sign up Adam Sibum fracturing his wrist a week before game day.

The injuries didn’t stop there, with long time friend and player Braydon Huizenga copping a ball to the face and sitting the rest of the game on the sidelines with a blood nose.

Battered, bruised, and suffering from a severe lack of fitness, Mum’s Leftovers couldn’t hold back The Radiant as they pulled ahead with a series of quick goals from Div A player (sub?) Vaughn after a solid 3-3 half.

The boys fought hard, and even a hattrick from team captain Nic Huizenga and solid passes from returning WinterFox player Josh Heerema, it wasn’t enough to get the dub.

John Bro tried his best as fill in keeper as we wait for our final member and full time goalie Brodie Wagenaar.

With 5-9 score line, the lads have proven they can score goals and are now aiming to work on defence.

Honourable mentions to Cody for subbing, and Caleb for the last minute replacement of Braydon.

Stay tuned for more updates and Good night.
