Communist Party of Australia - Central Branch
We are a branch of the Communist Party of Australia (CPA) that serves Sydney CBD.
Today the Communist Party of Australia marched in support of First Nation sovereignty. We join the calls for treaty, land rights and genuine self determination.
Always was, always will be!
We're approaching the 31st which is when we'll close the orders for these shirts, so get your orders in soon. The flooding issue isn't going anywhere and as communists we have to support workers facing adversity in our communities.

The Central Branch will be reprinting and selling two versions of this t-shirt design (one with CPA logo and one without) in order to raise money to donate to flood relief in NSW. Orders will be open until the 31st of July at which point the shirts will be printed and posted (domestic and international shipping available).
While news of the floods may have vanished from our headlines, the affected communities are still struggling and are in need of assistance.
Inclement weather didn't stop the comrades from NSW from showing solidarity with the working and marginalised people of the United States in its abhorrent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Roe v. Wade is an American expression of a reactionary tendency to strip basic health and reproductive rights. Our premier (then treasurer) Dominic Perrottet voted against decriminalising abortion in 2019 which highlights that some of our state leaders do not believe in bodily autonomy. Furthermore, abortion is not a constitutional right in Australia which, as a result, means that there are still barriers to getting abortions in Australia.
Simply put, more needs to be done here in Australia, sexual health education needs to be bolstered and universal access to abortion needs to be offered.

🏳️⚧️ Trans Visibility Day marks a time to celebrate trans pride and achievements.
The Communist Party of Australia Central Branch would not function without the hard work of its trans comrades that are fighting for a better future. ✊
The 14th congress has come to a successful conclusion, with the party looking to the future and ready to fight for the working class!
The Communist Party of Australia (CPA) held a successful 14th National Congress on 25-27 February. Despite Congress being held online due to pandemic restrictions, delegates debated issues of national and international importance. Resolutions were adopted to strengthen the working class Party. A new Central Committee was elected that will work for the next four years to build the Party for a Socialist Future!
CPA Central Branch members supporting and striking NSW nurses at Parliament House today.
The state government loves to proclaim nurses as heroes but then turn around and cut their pay as well as denying them their demands aimed at improving patient care.
Nurses and their work uphold the health system every day and this has only become even more important for society as the pandemic stretches into its third year.
The CPA stands with nurses and their union in their struggle, as we stand with all workers in this struggle against the capitalist system.
Our statement on the recent Sydney Festival boycott. We stand in solidarity with all those fighting against ruling class oppression.
Communist Party members from Central and other branches have been involved supporting striking Toll workers at Yennora this week, helping in their fight against insecurity and poor conditions put on them by the company.
Their win is great news for the workers, and the victory of each strike represents a small but important building block in raising class consciousness and the overall class struggle.
TOLL MEMBERS WIN! After two days on strike, UWU members across seven Toll distribution centres have claimed a victory and will return to work ahead of the busy Christmas shopping period.
This afternoon members at seven sites across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales have voted to accept a new offer from Toll!
The new offer includes:
- more than 100 new permanent jobs;
- improved union and training rights;
- increased redundancy;
- a guarantee that if workers are moved to a new Toll distribution centre their wages and redundancy provisions will be maintained;
- a 3% pay increase each year for three year;
and the new agreement will cover all new Toll warehouses with a minimum starter rate of $25 an hour at every site (plus more!)
Congratulations to Toll members on HOLDING THE LINE!
The Central Branch Executive — on behalf of Central Branch — is sad to announce the passing of comrade Rob Gowland, former Central Branch secretary and Central Committee member.
Comrade Rob was a lifelong member of the Party, among his contributions was bringing socialist art to Australia (such as Soviet cinema) and contributing cultural essays to the Party's newspaper "The Guardian — The Workers' Weekly".
Nuclear submarines: a waste of money and a threat to peace
CPA Members at yesterday's picket called by the CFMEU construction division early on the 22nd to defend the green ban on the historic Willow Grove site and prevent its demolition by the NSW Government.
This powerful picket of unionists and community activists was successful in delaying demolition work long enough to obtain an injunction against further work on the site.
It is not the end of the fight however, and further community mobilisations will be needed in the coming weeks to defend the green ban.
The NSW government has breached the green ban and begun demolition work on Willow Grove, the community needs help to defend it!
CPA Central members attended today's rally held by the Stop The Intervention Collective, which called on the attendees to fight to bring about the end the 14 year long racist and destructive intervention and 'Stronger Futures' laws that continue to this day.
This afternoon CPA members attended an event by Anakbayan Sydney discussing oppression in the Philippines and Australia's direct and continuing contribution to supporting that oppression.
Australia must cease all military aid to a government that treats its people in such a way.
