An outcome of one of the most significant reviews in the building industry over the past 20 years has announced regulation around Building Inspectors.

A very welcome announcement. A conversation that House Inspect Australia has been having, leading and advocating for the past 10 years.

Today, we announced that we are seeking to strengthen South Australia’s building laws and increase protections for people undertaking building work with the most significant review of the state’s building regulations in nearly 20 years.

We want to make sure South Australians are protected when undertaking what is likely the biggest investment they’ll make in their lives.

We’re looking at a range of reforms including:

✅ Developing an easier dispute resolution process for consumers and reducing the costs of dispute resolution for all parties.

✅ The introduction of a permit system for owner-builders to prevent unlicensed builders posing as owner-builders.

✅ Requiring building inspectors to be registered due to concerns about unqualified inspectors providing shoddy reports.

Not too long ago, I found out I was a finalist in two categories, for the 2022 AusMumpreneur Awards. I was so honoured, as the categories I chose to represent are minority groups in business; Multicultural Business Excellence and Disabled Business Excellence.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the Sydney awards evening, but I was thankfully able to watch the livestream with my two children and partner Barney Adamou, all while working away on the couch with my laptop........not thinking I would end up with not 1 BUT 3 AWARDS!!

I took out Gold 1st place Award Winner for Multicultural Business Excellence and Disabled Business Excellence and Bronze 3rd place Award Winner for Disabled Business Excellence.

Being recognised for these amazing categories was truly a magical moment shared with my and in that moment I felt and .

Thank you to my husband and children that support me to be at my best every single day.

Thank you to LGT Crestone for hosting us tonight at the Art Gallery of South Australia . An amazing evening viewing the talented exhibitions: Robert Wilson: Moving portraits and Archie 100: A Century of the Archibald Prize.

Today I had the absolute pleasure of being a judge at the Careers in Construction Showcase event hosted by the Makers Empire and the CITB South Australia. Thank you for inviting me to be a judge, alongside the inspiring Anthony, Co-CEO of Makers Empire and Arthur Konstad from CITB and other amazing judges.

Well done to all the schools and students who participated. There was so much creativity and critical thinking demonstrated by the students, that it was hard to pick a winner! I was truly impressed with what I saw!

It was great watching young boys and girls come together to co-design solutions to problems using construction and I was proud of all the young girls considering a career in construction.

I am passionate about promoting construction as a career pathway to the next generation of professionals. It’s through projects and collaborations such as these, that we can truly make a difference in how the construction industry will look in the future.

I feel honoured to be a female in the construction industry and strive to lead by example wherever possible. Let's continue to change this industry!

It will be interesting to see how this project helps our supply issue. Hopefully converting low-grade timber into wood products resolves the issue for the construction industry!
