Near perfect sailing conditions greeted crews for the first day of sailing for the upcoming season.
The official opening day is to be held on the 21st September with today and next Saturday a chance to test boats for the season ahead.
The Viper fleet put on a great display of sailing with Greg Graham as always leading the multihulls home.

Americas Cup has commenced. Amazing technology that some may think it’s not sailing, but it is exciting.
It was great to see long time member, hardworking and genuine good ‘bloke’ Max Hewitt received life membership at our recent AGM.
Max is always on hand for any duties, Learn to Sail, Committee, Regatta Official, Fund Raising and Sailability to name several.
A great honour, well done and congratulations.

It was fantastic to see a sailor, gold medalist Matt Wearn be recognised to carry our flag at the Olympic Closing Ceremony with swimmer Kaylee McKewan.
Matt also won gold in Tokyo, with Sailing being a very successful sport over the years at Olympic Games.

With the 2024-25 Season not far away a new program being drawn up will see a return to 5 race trophy series.
A sponsor has been found with trophies presented at the end of each series.

AGM today saw John Learmonth returned as Commodore with Treasurer Nick Pickering, Vice Commodore Terry Riley and Committee member Greg Graham all returned unopposed.
The position of Secretary is still vacant after former Secretary did not stand for re- election.

After a relatively quiet 2023-2024 season, the committee will be working hard to get more boats on the water in the upcoming season.
Dust those boats off and come on down in September and have a sail.

Our Winter Regatta date has changed due to a clash with the YQ Sailing Summit.
The new date is 27-28 July.
Dates have to be made around tides to facilitate better launching in the river.

Thanks to all club members who helped at the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle yesterday.
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle this Sunday. If members aren’t on the roster come out and support the team and your club. Chief sausage chef Kylie will be cooking up a storm.
It is sad to see the passing of Life Member Lorraine Tappenden.
Lorraine was a driving force in the club as president of the Ladies Committee running a very successful canteen. Back in the good old days.
