Our chicks are pipping! This is the first egg that pipped. Shortly after, the one behind it pipped as well. We are so excited. These might take another 12-24 hours until they hatch. We will be keeping a close eye on them.

Our eggs are officially in lockdown - like us! Day 19 today so we should start seeing chicks hatch in the next 36-48 hours. We can’t wait. 🤞for success. We are down to 22 eggs as we lost some that were clearly not alive anymore when we candled them. But hopefully these that we have left will produce a nice flock for us.

After our chicken eggs have been incubating for 7 days, we decided to do some egg candling to see how they are developing. Read our blog post to see the results and view our egg-citing video!

I’m spending the long weekend getting to know my new-to-me Bernina. I’ve had her for a little while but struggled to use it as you essentially have to learn how to use a new computer before it will sew. Things weren’t working so I stopped using it. But then I realised that I don’t have to do things the way they taught me in the lesson. These machines sew at the press of a button but I felt like I had no control over it.

So finally I took out the foot control and knee lift and now I can control the speed with my foot again and I can lift the machine foot manually the way I like. Essential on the small and shaped items that I do. Now we’re talking! Completely different experience. This machine is heavy duty and just whipping through my baby dolls with the thick layers. Also have to give credit to the Bernina Boys YouTube channel who have solved so many of my problems.

Procion Immersion Dyeing Workshop is great for learning new techniques 21/01/2020

All of the dyeing I did at my procion dyeing workshops has been washed and ironed. I have written a blog piece about the different dyes and techniques I used. Check it out if you are interested in dyeing. I'll be following up with a run down of the natural dyeing workshop I went to as well.
Check out the blog here https://www.crazydaze.com.au/procion-immersion-dyeing-workshop/

I went to a low immersion dyeing class during the week. I’ve done lots of tie dyeing but I wanted to learn some new tips. Here is a sneak peak of my 6 cotton squares. Two more classes this week including a natural dyeing class that I’m very excited about.

Christmas wrapping crazydaze style! Can’t just have ordinary Christmas style wrapping here. Stuck with a Santa and Rudolf theme this year. Just for fun. Merry Christmas!

I like to do something silly with the presents every year if I can think of something. This year my theme is Santa and Rudolph but this present is too large. So I made it the chimney! Had a bit of fun with this. Merry Christmas!

Aside from crochet and sewing, I also bake from time to time. This week I was asked to make a simple wedding cake with a roses theme. I think this meets the brief. Yummy hazelnut torte with coffee filling under that deliberately uneven white buttercream.

Haven’t knitted for a while but I found this navy Bendigo Wool in my stash and decided I needed to knit. Teamed it with another Bendigo grey with navy fleck and started this gorgeous pattern by interweave Knits. I still have 52cm left to get to the desired 180cm. Feels very slow! This will go to charity for next winter. Hopefully it helps keep someone warm!

I watched a video on making Christmas stockings out of scraps. I have tonnes of scraps but they are mostly kids prints and block colours leftover from bag making. So I had a go with these. What do you think? Do you think people would like Christmas stockings in non Christmas fabric? I still need to finish these so they are a bit raw but I wanted to get an idea if people liked them. They would be donated to the special care nursery for the babies so the kids prints are suitable, it’s the lack of Christmas sparkle that concerns me. Thoughts please!

Testing out my new Clover ergonomic crochet hooks. I only use ergonomic ones these days. These are super fine hooks for making lace. Big project on the way. Will take me another 10 months I think!

Sharing a little love with my four legged friend, Maggie. Crocheted heart is part of my project for my daughter. It’s coming along nicely. Maggie gives it the tick of approval.

About CrazyDaze Creative

Welcome to the CrazyDaze Creative. Here you will explore creativity with me and hopefully be inspired to try a few projects yourself. Follow along with my Blog where I not only showcase my projects but also tell you how you can find the pattern or do it yourself!

I love to try new patterns and techniques and will also be on the look out for new designs. I like to support designers wherever possible, especially local ones, so if you find any patterns that may be of interest to me bring them to my attention!

Sometimes I have crazy ideas and try to do things differently or take on projects that are way too big! Keep a look out for the end result. Sometimes they don’t work out, but what a learning curve they are!
