It’s Book Week! ⠀
Stories mean so much to me because they’re a way for me to escape reality. When I write stories or read stories, a part of me is taken away into a place or time, that might not even be my own time. When I write, my mind is set free and when I read lovely stories, I feel like I’m right there with the characters. Writing is a form of escapism for me. ⠀

Watching cartoons and Disney films passed the time during the long hospital stays and brought joy and laughter into my world. From early on, I loved to draw and tell stories to myself about all the characters she created.⠀

A little more about my story...⠀
My cancer returned and I was again treated with chemotherapy in preparation for a bone marrow transplant. An unrelated cord blood donor was found from Melbourne and at the age of 6, I underwent the harrowing yet medically miraculous transplant procedure, which proved successful and cured me of the leukeamia. I'm actually the first unrelated cord blood transplant recipient in Australia.⠀

a little bit about me... I entered this wonderful world in 1993 in Brisbane, Australia as a delightful, magnificent, and cheeky child. At the age of 2 1⁄2 I was diagnosed with Leukaemia and treated with chemotherapy and radiation therapy for 2 years.⠀

Hi I'm Ashleigh Knight! I'm the author of The Wonders of Imagination. ⠀

I wanted to introduce myself and share a little bit about my story. ⠀

Born in Brisbane, I grew up in a loving family with my older sister and younger brother. From early on, I've loved to draw and tell stories to myself about all the characters I created. It wasn't until recently that my father put my stories to paper and thus The Wonders of Imagination was born.⠀
