Women are so powerful. We are nurturers, comforters, healers and gatherers. We have the ability to love deeply and stand strong.

This piece is for the babies who were taken too early, who jumped on that express journey straight to a better destination.

Titled “Yuribaya” which means strong in Birri language. This piece tells the story and journey of something many of us women are faced with. I envisioned the beautiful journey their gentle souls would go on to lead them to a better place. And the connecting yarning circles of the army of women you’ve got beside you, those who have been through it before, those going through it, those who cannot go through it and those who will still go through it. Yarning and sharing stories with one another to uplift, encourage and empower.

Help our women out. Let them know they aren’t alone and that there is peace all around them. Brighter days are coming.
💕

First Nations resource for Early Childhood Education is a priority to myself, and always will be. Early Education holds a special place in my heart having worked in the industry for 7 years and believing in raising a great, open-minded and well educated on cultural history and anti-racism generation. I’m currently working on other educational products in the meantime, but these peg dolls have sparked interest and I’m so glad. Let’s raise our next generation to love ALL.
🖤💛❤️

These families have just been added to the website! More to come throughout the week.

‘Women’s business’ spoke to so many people and was snatched up within 2 minutes after my website was launched! Empowering one another is what we should prioritise daily. Although this piece is unique, I will be bringing out a ‘Women’s Business collection’ of similar stories in various sizes/items. I can’t wait to share them with you all!

‘Walkabout’

This piece represents a journey throughout our countries beautiful land. Embracing the sand, dirt, dust and mud that empowers us and reminds us of who we are. Getting back to the basics, away from the cement, plastics and buildings to admire our natural environment. 🤎

“Our mob, our circle.”

This piece represents a journey of coming together to yarn, uplift one another, to share stories, gain knowledge and strength around the campfire. These colours represent the many different shades of aboriginality, all as one nation... First Nations. 🤍🤎🖤

‘Waterways’
displayed by my little sidekick and daughter Ayla.

This little piece represents running waters and the many breathtaking colours the water reflects. I myself am happiest when I’m by the water, whether it’s the ocean or river. Creating this piece was such a refreshing experience for me.

‘Women’s business”
There is something extraordinary about when women gather together and build one another up. Kindness, encouragement, loving, celebrating others success, being genuine, listening and understanding - let’s be those women. 👊🏽🙌🏽

Hello!
I’m the face and hands behind Bidjiri Art.
I’m a proud Birri Gubba rascal who was born down south in the snowy mountains on Wiradjuri, Wolgalu and Ngunnawal land. I have relocated to Bindal and Wulgurukaba land, Townsville, 8 years ago.

Bidjiri in Birri Gubba language means ‘dream’. If there is one thing my 23 years of living and the challenges/hurdles I’ve gone through so far along the journey has taught me, is that you may face nightmares from time to time, but don’t lose sight of your dream.

Painting is something that has helped ease my stress and pain, and has soothed my spirit. Getting back to our basics - whether it’s aboriginal art, dancing, sitting around the fire, going on bush walks, fishing, laying under the stars, sitting and listening to stories/learning culture from elders, anything that connects you back to your culture and warms your heart is what I would recommend to any indigenous person I know who’s struggling mentally. There is something significant about feeling your place on this earth. I’m nothing special, I’m humble in my learning. I love my culture and I’m continuously learning and loving. Thank you for supporting me along the way. 🖤
