πLinen whispers tales of eastern spice,
A maxi dress with strawberries' grace,
High low skirt dances, flowing nice,
Hemline sweeps with elegance and pace.
Triple v-stripes adorn the collar high,
Low square neckline, open to the skies,
French seams bind stories that never die,
In this dress, the heart of summer lies.π

From one gorgeous girl to another.. walking for the Ethical Bride division and gorgeous Dina who fell in love with the dress when she saw it in the window of our pop up shop..
This dress was made from 100% banana silk and dyed using avocado pits and lac with the little appliquΓ© flowers made of 100% silk organza and dyed with the same. This dress was an absolute joy to make and fit the Ehtical Bride brief perfectly. But the best part was seeing how much Dina loved the dress and just HAD to have it. ππ€©π₯°
πhow to build a sustainable wardrobe - starter guideπ
1. wear it! and if you don't like it anymore, take advantage of online reselling apps and earn a little extra cash
2. what's it made of? choose natural over synthetic - always! if these end up in landfill, they will have less of a harmful impact
3. Juliette et Felicity takes sustainability and ethics every seriously. only natural fibres are used, we repurpose spent paper from the patternmaking floor, dye using plants and avocado pits that we source from our local cafe and use recyclable & reusable packaging. these are just some of the ways that we try to create a positive impact in the fashion industry and we are very excited to implement more sustainable practices in the future.
4. look for well made clothing that will last and won't fall apart after a few washes. Juliette et Felicity's finishes are made to not only last but to look just as good on the inside as the outside.
5. it's a thing and you should embrace it. not only will it reduce the amount of time you spend in the laundry, it has lots of benefits for the garment's longevity.

It's always in the detail!
Little gold metal anchor buttons are scattered throughout our Saffron Seas collection and the Epauletter shirt is one of the pieces adorned with them. We've also added little chain details to give that little something extra. This chain is gold plated so that it won't tarnish over time because quality is at the core of our ethosπ
Our Saffrom Seas collection is coming VERY soon! Each piece will be available for pre-order as reducing unwanted clothing is another way we are trying to change the future of the fashion industry π
In a vintage print, a timeless scene,
A maiden dives 'neath skies serene.
Swallows dance, a ballet high,
Whispers of freedom fill the sky.
Dress cascades in graceful flow,
An artful tale from long ago.
In strokes of time, the story's spun,
A treasure in hues of days long done.

Sustainability and ethics are very important to Juliette et Felicity and we're very grateful to work with for part of our Mexiku collection and many more collections to come!
Creating a rounded eco-friendly business is a journey and although we haven't reached the ultimate level of eco-friendliness, we are definitely on our way πΏπ±π
Mixing 2 opposing concepts, themes or materials and creating a harmonious piece is one of my favourite things to do. There is definitely something soothing when the perfect balance is reached.
My Saffron Seas collection does exactly that. Finding balance between the spices of the East with the rigidity of the commanders of the western seas.
My collection is launching very soon and will be available for pre-order. Just another way that I'm trying to reduce the waste produced by the fashion industry.

The final touch! Our swing tags are made in the studio, using all the left over pieces of paper when pattermaking. The ink used is also a bi product and in this instance it is pigment made from the left over avo dye bath we used to colour our pompoms.
Sustainability is very important to Juliette et Felicity but making these was also a very fun and satisfying process. Especially the knowledge that everything can be recycled, repurposed and manipulated to make something new and magical π

And to celebrate, I wanted to share one of my favourite little delights β Rhubarb Sour Straps πΏ
My weekly visit to my local farmers market is hands down one of my favourite things to do to purchase local, fresh produce and I was lucky enough to catch the last of autumnβs rhubarb a few weeks back.
The how:
π Pre-heat oven to 100Β°c
πUse a peeler to create super thin strips of βbarb
πCoat with raw caster sugar
πPlace on oven tray
πLet the 'barb dehydrate in oven for 35 mins
πCoat with more caster sugar
*chefβs kiss*
If you do have access to a local market, give it a try! I promise you will love what you find there π π₯¦π₯π
Ps I did use a stock video for the market shots because I forgot to film my rhubarb purchase BUT I
promise you that I def did get my rhubarb from the markets π

π Enjoy the last few moments of the full moon before it gracefully begins to fade away, transforming
into a mere sliver of its former self. π
Wrap yourself in green, the colour of transformation and new
beginnings, reminding us that even after the darkest nights, the dawn of a new day is just around the
corner. π±
Dance under the moonlight, celebrate our resilience, and welcome the ever-changing chapters of our
lives with open arms..
We can do all this super great stuff probably after Monday though.. and especially after weβve had a
delicious, energy boosting breakfast.. and maybe after a quick afternoon nap.. AND THEN we can
take on the world!
Happy Sunday night!
This photo I title - Me and my Girls.. it has lots of feels and I just wanted to post it... It also summarises perfectly what I've been up to for the past few months (add a few unexpected lemons I made into refreshing lemonade...) all the way up to last weekend where I was fortunate enough to show a sneak preview of my next collection during Gold Coast Fashion Project's GC Fashion Week. The collection titled "Saffron Seas", draws its inspiration from the vibrant and aromatic spices of the east and the deep blue seas of the west. Crafted from beautiful linens, silks, vintage fabrics and silk and cotton blends, it perfectly embodies the collection's opposing themes.
A big thank you to Summer from RISE to the Runway who ran a tight ship (π) full of aspiring models and volunteers which resulted in a perfect mesh of creative minds π

Who Made Your Clothes?
These are the beautiful women of Avodah Global, hard at work making the Mexi cami and the Emocionarskirt π₯°.
Part of the Mexiku collection has been manufactured by the team of Avodah Global - a sustainable and ethical clothing manufacturer in Cambodia. They employ vulnerable and at risk women and their families by providing survivors involved in trafficking and local women with a safe place to work as well as teaching them how to produce custom orders. They were established in 2016 to provide support for the SHE Rescue Homes - part of the It's Not Ok projects - and in turn have created a model to aggregate small, localised sustainable ethical manufacturing sewing hubs.
If any of the manufacturing was to be done outside of Australia, this was always going to be the type of company that Juliette et Felicity would partner with - creating sustainability for both our clothes' makers and our environment. π±
Appreciation post to celebrate UNESCO's World Art Day!
"Each year, on 15 April, World Art Day celebrations help reinforce the links between artistic creations and society, encourage greater awareness of the diversity of artistic expressions and highlight the contribution of artists to sustainable development. It is also an occasion to shine a light on arts education in schools, as culture can pave the way for inclusive and equitable education."
Ok so I'm one day late but I'm sure it's still the 15th of April somewhere in the world right now!
These artists are some of my favourite whom I follow on insta from all over the world. They probably don't need me to tute their horn as they already have a great following but there's a reason for that!
Happy World Art Day (for yesterday π)

On this World Water Day, I reflect on an art that I love but can be so detrimental to our environment.
When creating my designs, I incorporate as many environmentally friendly techniques and materials to reduce my impact on our earth - a planet that I love so much and want to protect.
I use natural dyes to colour the pompoms found in the Mexiku collection which means that the spent water can be safely used to water my garden. But before I do discard this water, I make sure that I can repurpose this until every last part of the dye bath is used. With the excess bath, I use this to then create pigment which is then used to print the branded tags hanging on each Juliette et Felicity piece.
Finding ways to reduce my impact on the environment is not easy but it is something that I aim to improve more and more as this little business grows.
