Hard to digest and can cause allergies, digestive issues, and obesity. - High Fat & Salt: Many rolls are loaded with fat and salt to boost flavor and shelf life. This can lead to weight gain, pancreatitis, dehydration, and even sodium poisoning. -Harmful Preservatives: Chemicals like BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin are commonly used and have been linked to cancer and other health conditions. -Poor Processing Methods: High-temperature processing destroys vital nutrients, and additives to enhance texture and flavor can also introduce harmful substances.

DOGGIE DANGER AT HOME: Hey pet parents, let’s talk about some everyday items that could spell trouble for your furry friends: TOOTHPASTE While it keeps our smiles sparkling, it’s a big no-no for pups. Why? Well, it contains two doggie toxins. The first is fluoride which can cause serious poisoning - affecting the tummy and impacting their heart. In serious cases it can be deadly. The second is xylitol, which is downright lethal, causing dangerous drops in blood sugar. It’s also used in many other sugar-free product like chewing gum, lollies and cakes, so always check the label to ensure you keep these out of your pup’s reach. CHOCOLATE As delicious as it is for us, it’s a toxic treat for our furry companions. Theobromine in chocolate is a slow metaboliser for dogs, leading to serious issues with their nervous and cardiovascular systems. And hey, don’t forget about the caffeine in chocolate too... which is also a big no-no! COFFEE If dogs ingest caffeine, whether from coffee, tea, soft drinks or other substances it can lead to a serious condition - caffeine poisoning. Because caffeine is a stimulant to the central nervous system, even a few licks of your morning brew can make your dog sick, but too much can be downright fatal. Dogs teeth also need lots of TLC and here is why dental stick & dental chews shouldn’t be used as a teeth cleaner. 🦷🪥🐶 * Sodium Tripolyphosphate – As well as being one of the key ingredients in most dental chews, it is also found in detergents and industrial products.In studies on dogs, it’s been show to cause a decrease in iron content in the bone, liver and spleen plus causes vomiting. * Potassium Sorbate – This is another hidden ingredient that is used as a preservative. It is potentially very damaging to your dog. It is known to cause skin, eye and respiratory problems and is another ingredient that is cancer causing. * Iron Oxide – This is usually included on the ingredients label as a ‘mineral supplement’. Iron Oxide can cause skin, eye and lung irritations and again has links to cancer. * Meat Flavour – This is as it says. Chemically treated. A flavour. Not real.

Top Melbourne chef Raymond Capaldi endorses human-grade dog food A top chef who shaped the careers of food stars Shannon Bennett and George Calombaris has thrown his support behind a gourmet dog food that’s safe for humans to eat. Wonderpies founder Raymond Capaldi has helped inspire a gourmet, human-grade dog food line with long-time mate Aaron Bach. Inspiration for Larry’s Lunch came after Bach’s beloved labradoodle Larry was mauled by another dog in a freak incident while staying with a dog-sitter five years ago. With a crushed skull and jaw, requiring multiple surgeries to fix, Larry was unable to eat kibble. So Bach did what any pet owner would, cook him wholefood-based meals such as chicken, rice and vegetables until he recovered. “Getting him to full health was super important, and everything on the market was rubbish,” Bach said. Capaldi, who led an All-Star chef ensemble Shane Delia, George Calombaris, Shannon Bennett and Gary Mehigan at Sofitel Melbournein the noughties, was happy to help. “I gave him this pet food book that I bought as originally we were planning on making dog biscuits with the leftover pastries for the pies,” he said. “We decided against it, but I’m happy to provide mentorship for his business.” Larry’s Lunch is a subscription-based, dog food delivery service. In its first year the business grew 350 per cent.

Dogs are at risk of catching contagious diseases when drinking public water bowls. Here are 3 reasons why you must avoid letting them drink from a public water bowl. 1. Kennel cough is an extremely contagious, upper respiratory infection, the main symptom of which is a harsh dry cough, that sounds like a goose honking. The more the dog coughs, the more their airway gets irritated, so it tends to get worse before it gets better. In severe cases it can turn into pneumonia, which can be life threatening.   2. Giardia is an intestinal parasite that thrives in water and can cause diarrhea and vomiting in dogs which can lead to significant weight loss And it’s highly contagious – even you can catch it from your dog.   3. Leptospirosis can cause lethargy, fever, increased thirst, vomiting, diarrhea, and can affect your dog’s liver and kidneys. In severe cases, leptospirosis can be fatal. Like Giardua, it can also be transferred to humans.
