Research shows people who exercise regularly have better mental health and emotional wellbeing, and lower rates of mental illness.

Exercise also appears to help in treating conditions such as depression and anxiety.

Australia’s guidelines recommend adults be active most days, aiming for a total of 2.5 - 5 hours of moderate physical activity per week (a brisk walk or swimming).

Alternatively, you should get 1.25 - 2.5 hours of vigorous physical activity per week (jogging, fast cycling, or a team sport). Of course, a combo of moderate and vigorous activities is also great.

Encouraging employees to be physically active is a core element of our app-based workplace wellness programs. For more info, head to www.movingmindz.io or get in touch to request a demo.

We are excited to be launching our comprehensive wellbeing program with Nelnet International on September 1. In partnership with Nelnet International, the 12-week program aims to address the many fundamentals of physical and mental wellbeing, which include mindfulness, nutrition, social connection, sleep, movement, and resilience.

Moving Mindz Executive Director Shane Bilsborough said: "The team are excited to work globally with Nelnet International, and on a personal note and I am looking forward to working with Wendy Demarte of whom I have had the pleasure to work with over the last seven years. Wendy is a wellbeing leader and her passion for this space is infectious. This is a time when staff need to feel supported and heard, and in a time of global uncertainty is paramount."

Nelnet International Head of Culture and Risk said: "We are excited to partner with the Moving Mindz team and embark on our first wellness challenge, starting on the 1st of September. Our purpose of 'building strong relationships that drive shared success' will be at the heart of this program. Our teams are ready and raring to go and look forward to connecting with each other, encouraging each other and most of all having fun. Thank you to the Moving Mindz team, we can't wait!"

That's a wrap on another successful wellbeing program! Thanks to Marian Merrigan, Health and Wellbeing Manager, Nicole Blewett, Health and Wellbeing Coordinator and Maia Dowling, Graduate, for your passion and enthusiasm towards this space.

We launched our comprehensive wellbeing program nationally (and across New Zealand) with Linfox on June 2. In partnership with Linfox, the program aimed to address the many fundamentals of physical and mental wellbeing, which include mindfulness, nutrition, social connection, sleep, movement and resilience.

Moving Mindz Co-Founder and COO Shane Bilsborough said, "Last year, we achieved some encouraging results through our partnership with Linfox, culminating in a whitepaper addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. The deidentified data gained from the 2021 program aims to build on this data and contribute to the mental health space. It's something that Linfox is passionate about."

Moving Mindz Mental Health Advisor and Clinical Psychologist Dr Karen Hallam said, "While the Moving Mindz program is simple in its goals of encouraging simple interventions to improve mood and connection between people, the effects continue to be striking to professionals such as myself."

The team at Moving Mindz are excited to roll out our wellbeing program with Officeworks nationally... dubbed Moving Mindz 2.0.

This is the second year we have partnered with Officeworks. More than than 9000 employees from over 167 stores, their Customer Fulfillment Centres and Support Offices across the country will have a chance to get involved.

Last year we had 3180 employees (more than 33%) take up the program. There were more than 85,000 pieces of engagement on the Moving Mindz platform... not page views, but genuine posts, photos and videos on our raft of daily wellbeing challenges. Phenomenal engagement, which we aim to top this year.

The benefits to management are sound mental health and wellbeing metrics, including depression/low mood, anxiety, stress, wellbeing, sleep, happiness and many others. While many organisations skirt around the issue of mental health, Officeworks are not interested in ticking a box... they want to make a difference to the mental health of their staff... and they are.
