Connections are critical for businesses that want to scale, especially if you're based in rural Australia. Thankfully, a remarkable network of critical and disruptive thinkers, technical experts, mentors and ‘door-openers’ is guiding and supporting the rural innovators in the Breakout Accelerator. Today we hosted a virtual reunion with our remarkable and generous network. We heard about challenges our ten innovators have addressed since an initial forum held in November, what opportunities have emerged, where they've landed and future plans for their enterprise. The Victorian Government Business Support Fund is now distributing $10,000 Grants to eligible small businesses impacted by COVID-19 and is open for applications.

Eligible businesses are encouraged to apply early in order to maximise their chances of securing a grant. Businesses can apply if they:
· Employ staff
· Have been subject to closure or is highly impacted by shutdown restrictions announced by the Victorian Government to-date.
· Have a turnover of more than $75,000
· Have payroll of less than $650,000
· Hold an Australian Business Number (ABN) and have held that ABN at 16 March 2020 (date of the State of Emergency declaration)
· Have been engaged in carrying out the operation of the business in the Australian State of Victoria on 16 March 2020.

Look who we unearthed!

ACRE - Australian Centre for Rural Entrepreneurship and SecondMuse are delighted to announce and introduce the Innovators who will join our Breakout Accelerator.

We co-developed this program to help unearth, connect and support innovators who are striving to build and scale dynamic, creative and sustainable businesses in places and communities they love. A key point of difference with this dedicated rural accelerator program is that we’re not asking innovators to leave home behind as they build their business.

Some 43 diverse and vibrant businesses from southern NSW and rural Victoria applied to join the Breakout Accelerator. After a rigorous selection, interview and shortlisting process, we have selected ten Innovators for the program.

We look forward to matching the business needs and supporting the goals of these Innovators by finding and bringing national and international networks, experience and expertise to the doorstep of each business, commencing with an immersive forum and networking opportunity at the Old Beechworth Gaol in late November 2019.

Co-developed by ACRE - Australian Centre for Rural Entrepreneurshipand SecondMuse, the Breakout Accelerator offers innovative rural business owners the opportunity to be coached, mentored by and connected with national and global networks to drive their ideas forward whilst staying in the communities they love.
