To release this we need to drill some holes, this essentially means doing things you enjoy or that help you to stress less, so list them below.
Now keep this visual handy, so you can remember all of the things which counter the stress or make it more manageble.
A pause, either in yourself or a student can be the difference between a reaction and a response.

How Does Sensory Processing Disorder Affect Learning?
While sensory processing issues are not a learning disorder or official diagnosis, they can make it hard for children to succeed at school.
A 2009 study found that 1 in every 6 children has sensory issues that make it hard to learn and function in school.
Being aware of the struggles some children face can make you a better teacher.
How do you accommodate your students with SPD?
Increasingly playing is seen as an invaluable activity for children, but the valuable social skills which are learned through play have never been more important.
In a world where communication is increasingly done through a screen, the social skills learned in our formative years through play should set us up for life.
If your students are missing those valuable social skills, maybe set some time aside for playing.
There are so many ways to differentiate, but the top and bottom is that it MUST be done!
A one size fits all approach to what you expect from your students is just not realistic or fair!
With almost every classroom having students who are gender diverse make sure they are supported in your classroom and that their pronouns are respected.
Many students struggle to understand changing pronouns and these posters can help build understanding and acceptance.

If you are feeling burnout you need to look at ways to reduce and manage your workload and self care options which give you and your brain a break from thinking about school!
Teachers work hard, but remember looking after yourself is the most important part of classroom practice!
Many of our students become overwhelmed in the classroom and struggle to self regulate. Take 5 is a simple strategy which could be used after several other strategies to engage have failed.
This technique allows teachers to simply give the high 5 hand to alert the student they have permission to take 5.
The student should choose a calm down activity (colouring, puzzle, reading, listening to a talking book, going for a walk) and understand that this break is for 5 minutes only. A sand timer is great for this.
This strategy provides students with space to regulate their emotions and removes students from the situation to prevent further escalation or a power struggle.
Do you use take 5 in your classroom?
This pack of signs and cards can be used in all classrooms from early elementary, primary, middle school and high school with all teachers who use gradual release of responsibility within their classroom instruction.
The goal of the Gradual Release of Responsibility Framework is to provide appropriate instruction, moving students towards independence.
These posters can be displayed and referred to or the cards could be used to highlight which stage the instruction was on or moving to. A valuable addition to all classrooms.

Focusing on the problems, mistakes and failures is how a growth mindset is formed.
Brushing over these and instead highlighting and focusing only on success will increase the students sense of hopelessness when things don't go to plan and hamper their progress in growing into a resilient adult.
Embrace the difficulties, this is where we learn!

Perfect is one word we need to throw out the door!
While reflecting on your teaching, you can easily become overly critical of yourself. I have never taught a perfect lesson â sometimes I didnât wait long enough after asking a question, or I didnât ask enough high level thinking questions, etc. To this day, I have never reflected on a lesson that I couldnât find ways to improve. And that is GOOD! Remember, If everything is perfect there is no growth.
Our growth mindset diary is a valuable resource to use with your students to encourage that important growth mindset. each day space is given for reflective practice, gratitude and encouraging students to see what they learned that day, as well as some interesting one off activities.
