This Soave is very popular at Maeve with people enjoying the subtle flavours of almond, peach, grapefruit, and yuzu. While it has enough acid to keep it fresh and vibrant, it is balanced by a rounded mouthfeel and soft edges. This is a great example of the style. The best Soaves are from 100% Garganega grapes, as is this example.

This weeks Sofa Somm is Yanika from NOTA in Paddington, her notes below of this beautiful Fiano !
This wine is made with very minimal intervention, fermented in stainless steel to maintain freshness while still showcasing elegant complexities.

The highly perfumed nose on this young and vibrant wine gives you beautiful aromas of white flowers and rich stone fruits.

On the palate it tastes of white peaches, crunchy pears, and apricots with just a hint of lime zest. Beautiful to drink on its own on a warm afternoon, yet its complexities allow it to also be paired with a wide variety of food!

The Glaetzers are some of the earliest recorded viticulturists in the now famous Barossa Valley, the first of the family arriving from Germany in 1888. Nearly a century later, Colin Glaetzer founded his winery and has since passed the reins on to his very talented son, Ben. This is sourced mostly from the northern Ebenezer sub-district, and the Bishop name is the surname of Ben’s mother and Colin’s wife; it is an ode to all that she has done to help the Glaetzer winemaking dynasty to continue and succeed.

Tasting notes: boysenberry, blackberry and baking spices. Flavours are long, the feel is plush and enough structure to age if you misplace the bottle, but are looking utterly delicious in drinking right now.
