Senior Living Mediation
Mediation for operators of retirement living and manufactured home communities and their residents. Our goal is to help restore harmony in the community.
We want to save you time, money and stress.
Pretty nice location for our business annual planning meeting. So good for the 3 to be together "IRL" too
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
On World Mental Health Day, it's important to think the things that are negatively impacting our mental health. Managing, or being in a long term dispute takes its toll and can lead to anxiety and depression.
The 'Mediation Magic' really happens when people come to the table prepared to think about an issue differently.
Adam Grant's new book is a game changer for people wanting to solve problems in this way. Adam suggests that most people will approach an interaction as either a PREACHER (i.e. trying to convince someone that they are right), a PROSECUTOR (i.e. trying to convince someone that they are wrong) or a POLITICIAN (i.e. just appealing to the masses by all means possible - which may be contrary to their values).
However, we could all experience truly valuable interactions and, by extension, truly successful mediation outcomes, if we approach our interactions by thinking like a SCIENTIST. In this (let's be honest, unnatural) state of mind you look for reasons why you might be wrong...testing your hypothesis against new information.
Sure this approach has exciting applications to mediation, but it also has the potential to help society learn to think in a more productive way for the collective benefit.

The financial and emotional costs of disputes in seniors living should not be underestimated
Retirement village disputes can be tough to solve Disputes – whether they are between residents or a resident and a village operator – can come at high price both financially and emotionally.
Here at Senior Living Mediation, we too are finding ourselves incredibly busy navigating the numerous challenges brought about by the current pandemic.
First and foremost, we acknowledge that this is an incredibly tough time – no matter how practised everyone might be at ‘locking down’, it does take a toll and our hearts go out to everyone who is affected.
We would like to congratulate operators and park owners for doing such a tremendous job in dealing with the realities of a pandemic, while walking the fine line between the interests of residents, home owners and frontline staff. It’s not easy!
Please remember you are not alone – don’t hesitate to pick up the phone and talk to one of the team who can provide you with advice and support as you work through these challenging times.
