Absolute Genius but so disheartening it even had to be invented 🥹
A bulletproof room is being piloted in an Alabama elementary school.
Everyone who has ever sewn has a tomato pincushion... our Grandmothers, mothers, aunts, literally everybody, and I wondered why. Well, according to folklore, people once thought the tomato was a symbol of good fortune and prosperity so when people moved into a new home they placed a tomato on the mantle. Since tomatoes are only seasonal, the ladies would create them from fabric and fill them with leaves and things from the outdoors.
During this same era the ladies did all the sewing for their families and their hand needles were very important, so they placed their important hand needle in their fabric “good luck” tomato and the tomato pin cushion was born. When I think of the pin cushion, I see my grandmother’s wrinkled hands, the bright red tomato next to her, sewing away. The tomato may not bring prosperity and good fortune but it definitely has nostalgia. 🍅

Aimed principally at the professional cutter, these volumes contain no style illustrations but presents instructions by way of paired pages; the right hand page bearing the draft diagram and the left hand page the instructions for plotting it.
Moving on to the system, the author uses the Divisional Breast Measurement system which is a proportional one, relying upon the average figure and the ratio of measurements that may be calculated with reasonable accuracy from just the one basic measurement - in this case the bust.
All the drafts are given for a figure having a 36" bust and a 38" hip measurement (no waist measurement is given as this would rarely be needed for a coat draft) and allows 2.5" ease on each.
The drafts themselves are expert and sympathetic to the human form, a detail often lost in modern drafting
There is no table of contents so I will go through the book itself and list the drafts in the order in which they appear:

Who is going to have the best dressed little boy in Australia??
Our wonderful member of
The Pattern Stashers,
thats who🤩
Two patterns purchased from me created this fab vintage shirt and overalls.
Megan is never scared to experiment with fabrics, patterns or colours. She is brave and always ends up with a vintage vibe.
Both of these patterns are late 50’s if my memory serves me well.
I particularly like the overall fabric which looks like ticking that was used on the old kapok mattresses. Now I’m showing my age 🤪
Have a look at the beautiful topstitching around the pockets.
Wonderful work as usual Megan and best of luck with the birth of your lucky little boy in a couple of weeks.
Let me intoduce Wood aka Willow-mae Longbrew aka Duck Costuming.
Caitlin is one busy lady as she runs her own business and is also a member of LARP
I had to ask what this was
and it is the Live Action Role Play group.
This group have weekend get togethers where they stage war on each other plus eat and be merry.
Stepping back in time is the intention and costumes are made with attention to detail. This is Willow-Mae Longbrew’s past time when she isn’t role playing ❤️
Here are some examples of her work.
If anyone else is involved in Live Role Play or the Theatre please feel free to share your costumes as it is another interest to alot of us 👗
Some more show and tell from our stasher
who has been busy again.
Looking gorgeous in this Butterick dress and hat, she reminds me of Kate Winslet🤩
Megan made the hat from vintage scraps and gives it a very luxurious look with a green velvet chin strap bow.
I especially like the moss green accent used on the sleeves. It gives a very vintage look accompanied by a very pretty floral print.
Pattern is McCalls M8212
which Megan gives
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
AND it has pockets👏
Megans elder daughter, Eleanor, has been working on a new top. She has ended up lengthening the blouse as it was the middle view and she found it too short so she is making the right hand view
A twirling video is in comments. Looks fabulous on you Eleanor.
I think it’s great that sewing has made a comeback.
Please share your sons/daughters makes and grandkids if you teaching them any craft
One of our fellow pattern stashers, Megan Edwards, has been busy whipping up a fabulous little number today for her beautiful daughter Vera.
The Pattern is Vintage Style 2258 from 1978.
Vera decided on the very feminine shoulder ruffle and it was sewn in a Liberty fabric she chose two years ago.
Megan said her daughter has expensive taste but I think you will agree, she just has style 🤩
Thanks Megan and Vera for allowing me to share this beautiful dress and hope it inspires others to showcase their projects
What do you think everyone?

Welcome to the Pattern Treasury, a place to get the creative juices flowing for everyone that has a love of sewing.
I have created this business so I may continue to enjoy the freedom of working from home doing something I love.
I started by selling my own stash of patterns and had such a wonderful response I decided to source patterns from all over Australia.
This has resulted in “virtually” meeting many wonderful people who both sell and buy from me with friendships struck from the most unlikely places.
In the past I have been honoured to be shown photos of new babies, precious grandchildren and of course weddings.
My mission is to continue to make available both Vintage and Modern, Womens,Mens and Children’s Patterns.
Ideally I would also like to include articles on fashion thru the years and sewing techniques that may be of interest.
If you have suggestions please message me as I would like this to be of interest for everyone.
In the coming weeks there will be vintage fabric, lace and books subject to availability.
Once my page is up and running smoothly I intend arrange giveaways and eventually start a separate sister page so you can post your creations made from patterns sourced from
I am sure that we would all enjoy seeing what is made no matter what skill level as we all love a little encouragement.
My personal sewing passion is baby’s and children’s clothes so I will be watching for these 🤩
I hope you enjoy perusing the patterns as they are posted and I would appreciate you all spreading the word to all your creative friends
Finally a huge thankyou for your continuing support and I look forward to the new friendships to be made between us. 🥰
