How telehealth can address mental healthcare hurdles | Riotact We know the pandemic has had severe consequences for mental health services across Australia with a record number of therapists…
PsychSessions is now offering a dedicated telehealth service given the positive experiences of our clients during COVID, and the research evidence that has emerged over the years of its many benefits.
We understand that some people may have reservations about booking in to see a psychologist by telehealth. For August and September 2023, new clients are welcome to test out telehealth by having their first session bulk-billed. It’s an easy way to see if our telehealth clinicians, and the telehealth platform, work for you!
In order to be eligible to have the first session bulk-billed, clients must have a valid referral and mental health treatment plan from their GP.
All sessions following the initial appointment will be at PsychSessions’ usual fees. Please see our website for details (link below).
Please be aware that this offer is only available for new clients booking in with our teleclinic psychologists – https://www.psychsessions.com.au/our-psychologists-teleclinic/
As well as treating general mental health issues, our telehealth clinicians have expertise in sleep, disordered eating, chronic pain, adjustment disorders, rural and remote populations, and climate anxiety.

'Extreme caution' advised for parents considering buying melatonin online to help their kids sleep Experts say there's been a "massive increase" in melatonin use among children and they're concerned parents are treating it as a "sleep candy" rather than a drug.
Nope, coffee won't give you extra energy. It'll just borrow a bit that you'll pay for later Feeling tired and groggy in the morning may well lead you to crave a coffee boost. But is it a gift or just a loan in terms of energy?
"Psychology is often a long game" – PsychSessions says contrary to common perception, evidence shows telehealth psychology is very effective and addresses issues of availability, access, anonymity and continuity of care.

The PsychSessions Rural and Remote Service in our Teleclinic enables psychologists and clinical psychologists who have a genuine connection to the land, having worked the better part of their careers in regional, rural, or remote Australia delivering psychological therapy via telehealth to people in areas where such services are otherwise difficult to access.
Our psychologists and clinical psychologists are fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and have the same training, experience, and competency levels as our city-based staff. They also undergo the same recruitment processes and on-going performance reviews.
If you are interested in seeing a psychologist as part of our Rural and Remote Service, please call us on 1300 084 006.

Psychology Week 2020 | Australian Psychological Society Psychology Week is on from November 8-14 in 2020. Our theme this year is promoting the role of psychology in helping people with pain.
"Supplying smaller quantities [of op**te medication is] important because although opioids work well in the short term, we know when the duration of use extends beyond the short term, the harms can outweigh the benefits. Opioids don’t work as well after the body adapts to their [initial] effects with long-term use. The dose is often increased to get the same effect, and with an increased dose comes an increased risk of harms, such as fatal overdose.""... the changes will hopefully help people [with chronic pain] in the longer term, as opioids are not always appropriate for chronic pain"
Smaller pack sizes from today: could new opioid restrictions stop leftover medicines causing harm? New rules attempt to curb opioid-related deaths in Australia. These changes are a step in the right direction – but we need to tread carefully to avoid unintended consequences.
