The GTEM - LYSTY 50 walk scheduled for 2 May 2020 has been POSTPONED.

We are yet to set a rescheduled date, however we have requested a date in October. Stay tuned for the announcement of a new date.

All registrations will transfer to the rescheduled event.

We trust that you are all keeping well and safe during these trying times.

A "lock-down" over there has very different implications and many are struggling and may even eventually die, not from the virus but from a lack of food and nourishment. Hi folks - GTEM has always put the safety and well-being of its walkers and volunteers as a high priority, therefore with the increasing effects of the coronavirus COVID-19, we are working through our options with regard to our event scheduled for 2 May.

The most likely outcome is that the event will be postponed to a new date later this year [yet to be decided]. We appreciate your support and patience during this time and we will keep you updated.

In the meantime we would like to appeal to each of you to continue seeking sponsors for your walk, which will happen, as HopeBuilders International needs to continue their work in Uganda, even more so now and we need your support more than ever before.

Basic Training Tip: 8 Weeks to go until Event Day!

You should be introducing 2 walks per week - You should aim for them to be around 30mins long - take the dogs and walk off your dinner. Make sure you are wearing the shoes you will wear on event day during your training. It is important they are comfortable and you are used to them for the big day!

This is WHY we walk: GoTheExtraMile is raising money to support the work of HopeBuilders as they take young vulnerable children out of the slums and place them in the village of hope where they grown up into beautiful young adults and go off to vocational training. The Ibra coffee painting has progressed - but is still a work in progress - needs to be softened out a bit. But it is well on the way to being a prize for GTEM. Basic Training Tip 9-12weeks out from Event Day!

You should aim to use opportunities during your normal everyday activities to start increasing your fitness (e.g. walk to work instead of catching a tram, take the stairs instead of the escalator or lift, take a 20min walk during lunchtimes at work). Dont push it - take it easy, just be looking for opportunities.
