Did you know the City of Joondalup is substantally increasing venue hire fees for Junior sports clubs next year? This will flow through to higher fees for our members, making Junior sport less affordable, especially given current cost-of-living challenges. Long-time Woodvale FC 'soccer mum' Teresa Ritchie is standing for council on this and other issues. Please think about giving her your support in the upcoming local elections:

"I am Teresa Ritchie and I am running for Council in the Central Ward. I am passionate about working with sporting and community clubs as well as ratepayers, residents and local businesses. The current increases to fees and charges affect all sporting clubs who have Junior Teams. I am committed to supporting a review of the current fees and charges policy to reduce fees for kids to play junior sport. Junior sport is an important part of the community, with volunteers, parents and friends contributing their time and energy in supporting kids to achieve their goals. We need kids to play sports so they are socially connected and feel they are part of a team."

Great visit today with Ocean Ridge Senior Citizens Club. Got to chat to some members. Found out some members have been attending this Club since 1997.

They meet at the Beaumaris Community Centre where activities include bingo, outings, carpet bowls, snooker, pool and other entertainment. The club meets 12.15pm – 3.45pm on Monday and 10.30am and 3.30pm on Fridays.

The Ocean Ridge Senior Citizens, like all other community groups and sporting groups are suffering because of increases fees and charges.

I will seeking an urgent review of the fees and charges policy as this is needed to ensure clubs like this can continue to meet and have activities for Seniors.

Get behind the Teams and go support them next week for the last game of the season..The Finals.

With increased fees and charges, this affects Clubs who have junior teams! The last thing we need is for kids to stop playing junior sport.

I have always campaigned for this as I see the benefit of supporting small businesses. As a former small business owner, I understand how hard it is when you are trying to establish your business, pay bills and keep the business going.

Whitfords Seniors is a great community group where community can get together and have a social connection, participate in activities and feel included as part of community.

This organisation is run by volunteers who commit their time and energy to make this place inclusive for all who attend - A wonderful Community Group.

I am committed to a review of the increased fees and charges policy for ALL community groups and will work hard to call for this review to reduce fees and charges.

City Centre activation projects is something I am interested in seeing in Joondalup to bring life back into the CBD. This would provide great support to local businesses.

In 2017 the City proposed 'Boas Place' - see link and have a read

What has happened with this project? Great to see a report was called for at the August Council meeting asking for an update.

Is this the solution to creating a place to work, eat, drink and live?

I am asking for your thoughts and ideas - Do we need more cafes, restaurants or retails shops? What would make this attractive?

I will be advocating for a City Wide policy to ensure goods and services will be purchased from the local business community.

With increases to current costs of living, City of Joondalup has now increased fees for kids to play sport! Struggling households will now have to make a choice to decide whether or not to enrol their kids in sports.

No to glyphosate - it's time we stop using this in our parks and playgrounds. The City of Joondalup is ignoring ratepayers who have challenged the use of glyphosate and have not listened to their concerns.

It's time to change and come up with new ideas and alternatives to protect our parks and stop spraying this for all those who use them.
