Town Beach Motel opened in July 1959 with new units added in the early 1960s. By 1960 there were 14 motels in town.

Remember the Big Bull? The fibreglass model Holstein Friesian bull was complete with a pair of swinging testicles. The tourist attraction opened in September 1987.
