The opening event for the new Red Rose Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Bench took place in Yungaburra earlier this week, with Sergeant Leishman and Constable Minz intendant.
Public benches painted red are not simply a design choice. These benches signify a critical social concern โ domestic violence. They serve as catalysts, encouraging conversations on the impact of such violence in the community.
Representatives from local services centres including Tablelands Sexual Assault Centre, Tablelands Womenโs Centre and Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service also participated in this launch event.

Our police officers attended a wellness weekend with Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme workers last weekend.
During the event, the workers imparted the art of weaving to our police officers. We gained great connection and appreciate the opportunity to engage with the workers.
This was not just educational, but also paved the way for insightful conversations between officers and the workers. All in all, it was a meaningful weekend with numerous opportunities for personal growth and community bonding.

The Tablelands region might see a bit more rainfall despite the prevailing dry season. As a preventative measure, motorists are advised to practice safe driving habits.
This includes:

๐ฃ๏ธ Accounting for longer braking distance
๐ก Keeping headlights on in dimmer conditions
๐ ๏ธ Maintaining vehicle roadworthiness

Over the past few years, the Queensland Police Service has used Facebook to share a wide mix of content โ from information about what's going on in your area, to safety tips, photos of officers (and many police dogs) from across the state, important emergency information and of course, the odd terrible dad joke and punny post. Being able to interact with your police and ask us questions is important, and so is ensuring we have a platform to provide public safety information directly to you. We aim for an open dialogue, but we do have some guidelines for posting on our page. Please do not:
