Our Board of Directors gathered this week for our monthly meeting and were overjoyed to celebrate our registration as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission!

After months of hard work on our application and patient waiting for registration approval, we are so excited to have reached this important milestone 🌟

1 year ago today - 5 brave souls made a commitment to bring Tender Funerals to Greater Eastern Melbourne!

From humble beginnings, we're now a not-for-profit company lead by a Board of Directors and powered by a working group of fabulous volunteers.

Thank you to all our wonderful supporters for your kind words, encouragement and donations as we've been "laying the foundations" this year.

An annual campaign that empowers all Australians to become strong self-advocates for their own personal planning when it comes to end-of-life.

All through August, free community events on end-of-life issues will be happening around Australia.

Our offering this year is our free community talk on Saturday August 26th at Croydon Library at 2pm.

At the heart of everything we do at Tender is our commitment to the wellbeing of our communities.

This week’s ABC Conversations ABC listen interview with specialist grief counsellor Wendy Liu explored the topic of grief and healing so beautifully.

Healing the grieving heart - ABC Radio Wendy Liu has spent many years right up close to death. As a forensic counsellor she worked with families who had lost someone to an accident or violence, and as a grief counsellor she supports people surviving all kinds of losses. Wendy says her work brings her a keener appreciation of life

The ABC Australian Story televised a groundbreaking documentary in 2022 about Tender Funerals.

This documentary highlighted the significant need of community for flexible choices through the establishment of local community owned and operated funeral services. The re-airing of this episode on 14 July reminds us of the ongoing need in community.

Our Tender film screening event in Belgrave yesterday was a great success!

With a full house of inspired local folk we enjoyed some wonderful discussion afterwards during our Q&A and received unanimous support for our plans for a not-for-profit Tender funeral service in the East.
