One of the most common questions we get asked is "What makes Tender different to other funeral companies?"
Here's how we answer!
1๏ธโฃ We are and always will be NOT-FOR-PROFIT
2๏ธโฃ Our central mission is to ensure AFFORDABLE funerals for everyone
3๏ธโฃ Every Tender funeral is a COMMUNITY LED funeral
When you invest in a Tender Funeral, you are supporting a model of care that provides equitable, accessible funeral care for everyone in your community.
Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our โTender Funerals - A Community Undertakingโ event at Croydon Library.
We loved sharing news about our plans for a Greater Eastern Melbourne Tender and the wide range of choices available in not-for-profit, community led funeral care.
As always big thanks to our incredible Tender volunteers who make these events possible.
Our gratitude also to Eastern Regional Libraries Your Library for their generous support.
Afterwards we celebrated our 1st Birthday!
1 year ago today - 5 brave souls made a commitment to bring Tender Funerals to Greater Eastern Melbourne!
From humble beginnings, we're now a not-for-profit company lead by a Board of Directors and powered by a working group of fabulous volunteers.
Thank you to all our wonderful supporters for your kind words, encouragement and donations as we've been "laying the foundations" this year.
We're so excited to see what the next year brings!
Happy Birthday to Us ๐

At the heart of everything we do at Tender is our commitment to the wellbeing of our communities.
When we get it โrightโ in the death care and funeral space - by offering authentic, meaningful and affordable service - we empower people to feel their โcapacityโ in grief.
When a community knows its strength at a time of loss, it also knows how to heal together.
This weekโs ABC Conversations ABC listen interview with specialist grief counsellor Wendy Liu explored the topic of grief and healing so beautifully.
Well worth a listen!
Wishing you all a safe and joyous weekend ๐โ๏ธ
Healing the grieving heart - ABC Radio Wendy Liu has spent many years right up close to death. As a forensic counsellor she worked with families who had lost someone to an accident or violence, and as a grief counsellor she supports people surviving all kinds of losses. Wendy says her work brings her a keener appreciation of life

So wonderful to connect with more of our community at the Rowville Library this afternoon for our 2nd Tender film screening and Q&A event!
We love feeling how inspired and empowered people become when they learn what is possible in not for profit, community-led funeral care.
At Tender, weโre imagining a world together where:
๐ฑ People are encouraged to care for their own in death
๐ฑ Profits are returned to the community not private shareholders
๐ฑ Dignified, respectful care is available to everyone
๐ฑ Funerals are authentic, meaningful and AFFORDABLE
Thank you to our Tender Events volunteers Sasha, Melanie and Melinda.
Looking forward to our next Tender event at Croydon Library on August 26th.
Hear the beginning of OUR story on Australian Story โ Friday 14 July, 5pm
The ABC Australian Story televised a groundbreaking documentary in 2022 about Tender Funerals.
This documentary highlighted the significant need of community for flexible choices through the establishment of local community owned and operated funeral services. The re-airing of this episode on 14 July reminds us of the ongoing need in community.
We encourage people to watch our story on Australian Story and get involved in helping our local community create this new and dynamic social venture!
