It was an honour to attend the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Canning-Districts RSL this morning and be part of the march.

It was a pleasure to join Deputy Mayor Amanda Spencer-Teo - Canning, Cr Joanne Page and Fr Brett Gibson from the Anglican Parish of Canning for the Grand Opening of the Treasures on George Opshop this morning.
The newly expanded Opshop on George Way, Cannington will be open to the community weekly on Fridays and also the first Saturday of the month.
It was my pleasure to be able to join Belinda, President of the Bannister Creek P&C Association and Principal Susan Archdall to draw the Easter Raffle to raise funds for a new literacy initiative at the school. It was great to see the City of Canning donate 5 Leisureplex Gift Vouchers for the Raffle.
A really great turnout today for the annual Clean Up Australia Day event in Ferndale this morning. Many thanks to everyone who came along to help including the City of Canning and the Canning River Regional Park Volunteers who organised the day, Fountain College and the Riverton WA Scout Group.
At the request of local residents, I’m really pleased to see the new shade sails recently installed at Fern Cove Park in Wilson.
In further good news, four new playgrounds are also going to be built in the Beeloo Ward over the coming months at Cygnet, Ockham, Crofton and Saurel Parks.
This morning I was joined by Deputy Mayor Amanda Spencer-Teo - Canning, Councillor Paul Tucek JP, Councillor Ivonne Rodriguez - Nicholson Ward and Councillor Joanne Page to have a look at the newly upgraded Wandarrah Hall in Lynwood. It looks fantastic!
The renewal included the installation of new toilet facilities, a parent’s room, community level kitchen, internal and external painting throughout, LED lighting and new ceiling fans/ air conditioning units. The upgraded Hall is part of a developing community precinct at Edgeware Park which includes the popular Lynwood Youth Centre, basketball court and Pop-up Skate Park.
It was a great honour to hand out the City of Canning Sustainability Award with Mayor Patrick Hall - City of Canning at the Bannister Creek Primary School Year 6 Graduation Ceremony this morning.
Congratulations to Elspeth who demonstrated an exceptional and genuine commitment to preserving the environment and all the Year 6 graduates for their hard work and success👏
It was an absolute privilege to be invited along with Mayor Patrick Hall - City of Canning to the 60th anniversary celebration of my old school, Wilson Primary. The students put on an amazing show with dancing, singing, acrobatics and magic.
It brought back great memories of my time at Wilson Primary. It was also an honour to have a photo taken with my fantastic teachers. Well done to everyone at Wilson Primary School for putting on such a wonderful event!
A big thank you to the Rocks Church for coming down to help the Canning River Regional Park Volunteers remove weeds from the Banksia Hill site in Ferndale today. They did a fantastic job!

Local residents asked me if it would please be possible to improve the chairs and instal a table at Woodford Park in Lynwood. They were really pleased to see the City had completed the works today, a great outcome for the local community!
It was a real privilege to be invited along with Mayor Patrick Hall - City of Canning to the grand opening of the new Middle School Building at Fountain College in Ferndale today. The new facilities look absolutely fantastic and I’m sure will be very much enjoyed by both current and future students

It was a great pleasure to catch up with residents at the Wilson Retirement Village with Mayor Patrick Hall - City of Canning this morning and chat about current and future projects in the City of Canning.
One of the great privileges of being a Councillor has been connecting people and community groups.
Ian from Ferndale was looking to gift his Wood Lathe to the Station Street Mens Shed in Cannington. I took Ian to meet my friends at the Shed who were very pleased and grateful to receive his generous donation.
I’m really pleased to see that works have commenced to renew the Mason’s Landing Car Park in Cannington. I have been working with the City of Canning to improve parking in the area at the request of local residents. The works will include new, marked/ formal car, trailer and bus parking bays and an ACROD parking bay.
Masons Landing Car Park Renewal Works 🚧
We've kicked off work at Masons Landing to create a formal bitumen car park, including disability access bay. We're also working on a footpath to the gazebo in the nearby park.
Work will occur Mon to Sat 7am to 5pm and take up to two weeks. Traffic management will be in place and the car park will be closed to vehicles.

It was my privilege to attend the City of Canning Environmental Honour Board and Volunteer Appreciation Night yesterday along with Mayor Patrick Hall - City of Canning and Deputy Mayor Ben Kunze - City of Canning to celebrate their inclusion on the Honour Board at the CREEC building.
It was fantastic to be able to join Wadjup-Gabbilju and the Riverton WA Scout Group to help with weeding and planting sedges near Riverton Bridge. A big thank you to everyone involved in this great project.
Great to join the amazing Canning River Regional Park Volunteers this morning at Urban Forest in Ferndale. Lots of weeds removed and a fantastic morning tea served by the team.

Thank you so much to the Intercultural Harmony Society Inc., Australian Relief Organisation and students from Fountain College for helping cook and serve at the Cannington Soup Kitchen last night.
Fantastic to see the new playground at Ferndale Flats Park and the enjoyment it is bringing to the local community.
A great morning for planting down at the Canning Foreshore near the Kent Street Weir in Wilson. Many thanks to the Bannister Creek Catchment Group and all of the volunteers from the Intercultural Harmony Society and Fountain College who helped plant 2000 seedlings in the area.
