Pretty busy week in the workshop!
A quick partial refret on my bass before tonight's gig!
Haven't had much time to post anything lately, but this lovely Gibson Dove deserves a mention. What a beautiful instrument! The owner wanted a pickup, but I didn't want to go cutting holes in such a precious guitar. We ended up going with the L.R.Baggs Anthem system, which is nicely hidden inside the sound hole, and only requires a hole for the endpin/output jack. It sounds very natural as well, and can be removed as easily as it is installed. Cheers.
Another Maton preamp ruined by leaking batteries....
A lot going on in the workshop this week. This Squire Strat got a completely new vibe...Check it out
First job today, fitting a new Tusq nut to this Gibson 335 lefty.
Thanks to everyone for being patient while I get through this mountain of work..... Have a great weekend!
Another bridge repair - this time it's a Cole Clark.
It's amp week!
First job today - new DiMarzio DP223BC bridge pickup and Gotoh locking tuners on this Strat. Next!
I'm not usually a fan of working on semi-acoustic guitars. They are fiddly and time consuming, but it is satisfying when they are all back together and working properly. This one needed a new pickup switch and output jack. I also cleaned the pots with de-oxit and adjusted the pickup pole pieces for better string balance. Time for a beer now, cheers! 🍻
It's been a massive week in the workshop since I got back...
This is the last job for the week
New Dimebag Signature Set of pickups in this Dean electric with a Floyd Rose bridge & locknut. Have a great weekend everyone! Cheers.
This Epiphone Dot came in with fret buzz and tuning issues due to a poorly fitted nut. I used a Graph Tech Black Tusq to replace it, and the results were perfect. I love these nuts!
Just letting everyone know that I will be taking this week off, due to personal reasons. Will update when I am back.
Thanks for understanding.
Surely this shouldn't happen to one of Maton's top of the line guitars....
A few recent jobs... and yes there's always a Maton bridge repair in there.
Last job for the week - this old Ibanez needed a truss rod repair, new nut, new electronics and a proper setup. Time for a beer now - have a great weekend everyone!
Another big job this week
Refretting this lovely American Pro II Telecaster. I used 2.4mm Stainless Steel fretwire, which is the same size as the original nickel wire, but should last longer. I also replaced the tone pot with a Bourns 250k push/pull option for phase splitting the pickups. Cheers
