NOVEMBER: Over November we read Steven Pinker’s latest book - Rationality: What It Is, Why It Seems Scarce, Why It Matters.

Every so often we find very interesting non-fiction books on psychology which we’re super excited to share. Rationality is not quite a personal development book, nor business book, but there’s a lot that we can learn.

The book argues that rationality is a key driver of moral and social progress, and it attempts to resolve the apparent conflict between scientific progress and increasing levels of disinformation.

Have you read Rationality?

What are your thoughts on the book?

- Is The Lean Startup by Eric Ries still relevant in 2021?

It's one of, if not, the most popular books on startups ever published, but it was released over a decade ago.

A lot can change in a decade. Everyday essentials - such as air fryers, food delivery apps, and Microsoft Teams - didn't exist back in 2011.

So does The Lean Startup still hold up?

We spoke to and other entrepreneurs to find out if it’s still relevant for entrepreneurs in 2021 in our book review of book featured in

Struggling to read a whole book? Here’s a simple reminder on how easy it can be to read one book per month 📖

10 pages x 30 days.

Since the average book is roughly 300 pages, reading 10 each day for month should do the trick

That’s 15-20 minutes of reading each day, give or take depending on your reading speed.

You can even try setting daily reminders, like this one 😉

Our book for July is Black Box Thinking by

It’s a book that focuses on the relationship between success and learning from failure.

To illustrate the point, Syed compares the airline industry ✈️ with the healthcare industry 🏥. The comparison of how each industry addresses and learns from failure is quite shocking, to say the least.

It’s a fantastic book that uses interesting stores and anecdotes to discuss why, as a society, we need to redefine how we see failure. It easily makes its way into our top 15 business books of all time.

Today is World Environment Day 2021 🌱

Introduced by the in 1974, World Environment Days is celebrated every year on 5 June in an effort to address pressing environmental issues.

Did you know? Every three seconds, the world loses enough forest to cover a football pitch and over the last century we have destroyed half of our wetlands.

It’s shocking. Protecting the environment has never need more important and urgent 🌏

This is why sustainability is one of our core principles. We make sure everything we send out, including our boxes, packaging, and even our tape, is 100% recyclable, 100% compostable or made from recyclable materials 📦

But everyone has a role to play in sustainability and ecosystem restoration.

So this World Environment Day we want to inspire you.

Think about the impact you make on the environment. Think about what you consume, how you travel and your eco footprint.

Think about what you can do to protect the environment.

By the time you’ve read this - the world has lost enough forest to cover more than 13 football fields.

What will you do?

Our book of the month for May is No Rules Rules: Netflix and the Culture of Reinvention by Reed Hastings and Erin Meyer 📚

Started in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph, Netflix has grown from DVD mail-order service to a global media company with over 12,135 employees worldwide.

Traditionally, as companies grow larger, their culture tends to adopt more rules and processes.

But, this wasn’t the case for Netflix. No Rules Rules explores Netflix’s company culture and how the company deliberately enforces less restrictions on its employees, allowing them to be more effective in their roles.

Limitless by (our book for April) is packed with interesting insights and many key learnings.

Here are our top three:

🍅The pomodoro technique – a method to balance focus and deliberate breaks. Focus for 25 minutes, followed by a 5 minute break. This technique helps with focus and retention.

🙅🏻‍♂️Mistakes aren’t failures – a great point that really resonated with us is that mistakes don’t mean failure. As Kwik perfectly puts it, “It’s not how we make mistakes, but how we deal with them that defines us.”

🤫Silence your inner critic – we all have one. An inner critic who tells us we’re not good enough, enforcing limiting beliefs. It’s important to silence your inner critic by identifying and reframe your limiting beliefs.

Have you read the book? What are your key takeaways?
