With ambulance delays in some states, it is important to remain vigilant about minimising the risk of an allergic reaction occurring.

🟡For those with food allergy, be extra careful with label reading and telling food service staff about your allergy.
🟡 For people with insect allergy, try to wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants and shoes, use insect repellent and stay away from flowering plants.

Importantly, always have quick access to your two adrenaline injectors and ASCIA Action Plan for Anaphylaxis. The Action Plan takes you step by step through what to do if you have an allergic reaction.

Frequently asked question: “Do you do those quick 20 minute assessments that other providers do?”

Frequently provided answer: “Is 20 minutes enough time for you to gain the skills and knowledge to be able to save a life?”

Don’t get me wrong - we have gone above and beyond to keep our students and staff safe. We have massively reduced our class sizes, there is absolutely no sharing of equipment, we follow all of the COVID-19 safe workplace recommendations AND we have reduced our class time..just not to 20 minutes!

Every class I take I ask one important question - “has anyone ever had to do CPR in real life?”
It surprises me how many students say yes. When I ask who to, the most common answer is someone they knew or loved.

So again, is 20 minutes justifiable? Or would you prefer to leave knowing you know how to help someone in need? 🤷‍♀️

With workplaces slowly re-opening now is the time to check that expiry date on your certificate.

We have opened up new dates at both venues (Eltham and Dandenong) with the addition of a third venue in the next few weeks.

We have made it even easier to find the course you need - just simply browse our courses as per your industry.

Skills to Save Lives

Is your workplace prepared?

First aid requirements vary from one workplace to another. It is important to consider all relevant factors at your workplace when deciding what first aid arrangements you need to have in place. This could include the number of First Aiders onsite.

As a rule of thumb there should be one first aider for every:
* 50 workers in low-risk workplaces (for example, an office)
* 25 workers in high-risk workplaces (for example, a construction site)
* 10 workers in remote high-risk workplaces (for example, a mine).
