Just back from the wool mill in Victoria. The care taken to make superior Australian made Merino fabric is just so evident in the best equipment available, quality assurance and multiple tests all fabrics go through, the on site organic dyeing processes, and the experience of their staff, many who have been with the mill for many years. Take another look at the cheap imported Merino products out there- they actually warn you to expect pilling as it is wool....our quality Aussie made Merino doesn’t pill, and many are blended with wood fibre alternatives (LOTS of chemicals..) or synthetics with the excuse of being needed for elasticity or breathability. Merino is naturally elastic and breathable. Please support quality!

Sorting out the ewes today and introducing them to the rams. The older ewes have been taken out of the mob, but unfortunately, they are still not worth much. Has been a tough year or 2 for wool growers with low wool and sheep prices, and incredibly high input costs. Many have had to pivot and switch to cattle, get extra off farm income, leave farming, or diversify, like we have with Sleepy Merino. Merino is such an awesome sustainable fibre that could not have been designed to such perfection by man...we all need to support this industry instead of micro plastic producing, fossil fuel synthetics in fast fashion. The benefits would be great for the consumer, the wool industry and the planet.

The Inverell shop is open again after a very productive week away at the International Wool & Textile Organisation Conference in Adelaide. Come on down for some cosy PJs, tees and sheepskin slippers.

Dropped into the factory in Melbourne on the way home from the IWTO conference in Adelaide. So impressed with the quality control and comfortable working conditions. I can now see why they do such a great job. These skilled ladies also sew the Australian made items for iconic Aussie brands such as RM Williams and Country Road.

Have had a great week at the International Wool and Textile Organisation Conference in Adelaide. Last held in Australia 8 years ago I couldn't miss this opportunity. Lot's of networking and ideas for Sleepy Merino. Will be back in the shop on Tuesday to post your orders- sorry for the delay.

Warning on Bio-Detergents Learn how to choose safe detergents for your Merino, and your family! Please avoid bio detergents with enzymes, which will weaken the fibres and cause holes in Merino. These detergents do have a warning in the small print- ‘Do not use with wool or silk’.
