Prerequisites for application
- Successful completion of Generic Surgical Sciences Exam (GSSE) and the RACS Clinical Exam
- Minimum of 52 weeks General Surgery experience at registrar level
- 12 weeks surgery in Critical Care experience prior to time of application
- A completed Procedural Skills and Professional Capabilities form

- Situational Judgement Test late March 2023

- Invitations to Interview by 28 April
- Interviews (Nationwide) 13 May 2023
- Referee reporting opens 26 May – 30 June 2023

Important changes to Selection for 2024 intake
- Situational judgement test (SJT) - to be completed in late March
- Interview – the interview has been brought forward in the selection process. The number of interview panels will be reduced from six panels to five
- Referee reports – these will now be collected after the interview.

Applicants will be ranked nationally based on the combined SJT and interview score. Referee reports will be collected verbally via web-conference

Offers – applicants will be ranked again by their ‘overall score’ comprised of SJT (30%), interview (40%) and referee report (30%). Initial offers released 24 July 2023
