I am by no means a fashionista. I am, however, a lover of things made with care and purpose - that reflect more than fleeting trends and disregard for the planet.
We are so lucky to live in a time where creative and inspiring brands also have a space to exist - and thereβs something infinitely more special about supporting a small business. I fell head over heels with and the vest of my dreams arrived on my doorstep just in time to take away with my - wrapped in ribbon from India and accompanied by a hand-drawn card. More of this in the world please ππ

Frames from Hiroshima πΏ We arrived with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised by how much we loved this city. Aside from learning more about its tragic history and moments of reflection, we made new friends, ate shoulder-to-shoulder at hole in the wall local joints, discovered rooftop bars and admired the quiet peace by the river. Plus, cute old trams π π

As someone opposed to overconsumption, there is something mildly uncomfortable about admitting that you just love to shop while travelling. Iβve come to the conclusion that if I will shop anywhere, however, itβs going to be overseas.
This is a series on the treasures that I have brought back with me from near and far. Here, a collection of ceramics and bits and pieces from Japan.
The island of Okinawa was a treasure trove of makers and appeared to be a community where a lot of people knew each other. The lovely owner of our first Airbnb (which was full of gorgeous pottery) directed us to a cafe where we might be able to pick up some similar pieces as the potter himself was away on a trip.
Walking into a small workshop with multiple generations of family crafting pieces and taking home a little reminder of that experience is something that I just donβt think you can replace anywhere. Anyway, here are a few things we brought back. Some handmade, some definitely not, all to be kept forever π

And that is exactly how I feel about photographs π

What do you get when you combine a Spanish island, four photographers, a birthday, a boat (no license required), and a whole lotta charcuterie?
The answer is many, many photographs, all online now in my new Mallorca journal.
If youβre heading there this summer, Iβve shared my fave spots on the island for staying, eating, diving into that blue, blue water and sipping on a cervesa.

Shortly before spending approximately 2 hours sifting through painted treasures in a Pushkar backstreet π π Iβm really not much of a shopper at home but that all went out the window in India (and in general, when I go overseas). Inconvenient? Absolutely. But I love having a home full of things connected to memories β¨
Living somewhere affects the recommendations you give to visitors. Instead of one traveller passing on their βtop tipsβ to another that feature big attractions and unique lodgings, you tend to build up habits and preferences that make for a less show-stopping kind of list. However, after a particularly full-on period of work and travel, Iβm in the perfect mindset to appreciate a quiet weekend in Melbourne, frequenting my favourite places with my favourite person (and our dog).
Iβll also note that Iβm a recent transplant to this southern city, and thus completely underqualified to give my recommendations β not that itβs ever stopped me before.

Hello 2024 π
A year for exploring new and old places, taking some downtime (every once in a while), tackling my first - and likely only - half marathon (can currently only run 5km, so wish me luck), taking many photographs for some new and old friends, and dipping my toe into video on film.
So far on my list Iβve got Tassie, NZ, the states and Canada - where was your favourite stay of last year? What should I add to the calendar?
