What is it with Sabine Marcelis?

Last week IKEA Australia exploded with a collab product launch they did with the NZ-born Dutch residing designer 💥
Her VARMBLIXT donut desk/wall light sold out in a matter of minutes.

Here .home we've been fans of her resin Candy Cubes for a long time (see the coffee table in first pic, albeit not in a candy colour)

Sabine's obsession with the donut form has apparently been since childhood, and she's a master in contemporary material innovation. She experiments with ideas and materials in her Rotterdam-based studio.

And she loves experimenting with resin.

3. Keep Options to a Minimum

- If needed, ask your contractor or designer to narrow down choices for you, or eliminate options in stages.

4. Pick Function Over Fashion

- Think about how you want to use the space and what kind of feelings you want it to evoke, and the decisions will come more easily.

5. Go with Your First Impression

- Trust your gut!

6. Don't Rush

- Plan ahead so you can spread your decisions out over time and avoid decision fatigue

7. Trust the Experts

- Sometimes experts have already done the heavy lifting, so take advantage of their knowledge and experience to elevate your home to new heights!

This apartment was completely gutted which left a blank canvas for designer to bring in light and take advantage of those views 🙌🏻

His trick?
He used more theatrical, deeper hues in the dimly lit spaces where you don't spend much time, and let natural light take centre stage for the paler public spaces.
