Did you know that the classic striped barber pole has more of a gruesome meaning than just haircuts?

The iconic pole originally symbolised bloodletting!! This is because barbers in medieval times carried out blood letting procedures for health conditions. 😱

It made sense that a barber would perform the deed, as they owned sharp objects and had steady hands.
