Towamba CAB- newsletter and Timetable - Snail Mail drops also coming soon.
Hello Everyone,
As I always do as we approach 1st July, it’s time to clock over another year of operation and remind all of you that this service has been running for 18 years and we are now moving into the 19th year of the CAB. A grand achievement by our community.
If you have moved into the Towamba Valley, you may not know that the Towamba Community Access Bus Service is for our community, provided by your local school bus operators Ken Connell and Di Samuels of Eden Buses Pty Ltd.
Services alternate each Wednesday, tripping to Merimbula one week and Bega the next.
Great to enjoy a relaxing drive into town with the chance to socialise and catch up with other passengers. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get out and meet other members of the community. If you need a bit of extra service while in town to get up a steep hill to the Doctors for example, just ask your friendly and helpful driver.
Fares are subsidised, making it an economical alternative transport solution, bearing in mind that the ongoing continuation of this service is reliant on patronage.
Hoping you are all keeping safe and well and see you soon.
Bye for now Ken and Di

Remember the 40km/hr speed zone around the flashing lights of school buses and school zones as we see students returning for the new term tomorrow.
A reminder that Term 2 of school begins this week and school zones will be enforced from today. Please help us keep kids safe and SLOW DOWN to 40 Kph in school zones and whenever you see lights flash on the back of a bus.

Bus Safety Week 20-27 February
Bus safety is for everyone.
Your driving can affect a bus load of people. Buses can’t stop quickly, so please give way and slow down to 40 kph when bus lights flash.
For more information on how you can travel safely visit BeBusAware.com.au
Welcome back to the 2023 school year. Just a reminder that motorists must ‘Slow down to 40 when bus lights flash’.
Also, some key messages for parents and carers:
•Families have an important part to play in keeping children safe around roads.
•Never drop off or meet your child on the opposite side of the road to the bus stop or call them across the road. Always drop them off or meet them on the same side of the road as the bus stop.
•Remind your children to always wait until the bus has gone before choosing a safe place to cross the road
•Talk to your children about Stop! Look! Listen! Think! every time they cross the road:
-Stop one step back from the kerb
-Look continuously both ways
-Listen for the sounds of approaching traffic
-Think whether it is safe to cross and keep checking until safely across.

20/9/22 The NSW Government has announced that face masks will no longer be mandatory on public transport in NSW from Wednesday 21 September 2022.
This means passengers, including students over 12 years of age, will not be required to wear masks on bus and coach services from this date. It also means that masks will no longer be mandatory for drivers.
This means passengers, including students over 12 years of age, will not be required to wear masks on bus and coach services from this date. It also means that masks will no longer be mandatory for drivers.
The NSW Government is still recommending that people take the following steps to help combat against COVID-19 and other infectious diseases:
• Staying home if unwell, taking a COVID-19 test straight away and self-isolating;
• Getting together outdoors or in large, well-ventilated spaces with open doors and windows;
• Practising good hygiene by washing or sanitising often;
• Taking a rapid antigen test for COVID-19 before visiting vulnerable loved ones or going to large gatherings and events and

It's Bus Safety Week from Monday, 21 February to Sunday, 27 February, 2022, to raise awareness for all road users on how to stay safe on and around buses, helping to reduce injuries and fatalities.
Take the time to watch this video and stay safe.

When bus lights flash it means the bus is picking up or dropping off children so you must slow down to 40km/h
Look out for children on footpaths or crossing the road, especially around schools, buses and bus stops.
Motorists may not expect to see, or find it difficult to see, a child crossing the road at an informal bus stop.
Leave plenty of space when you’re driving or stopped around buses, to keep children safe and improve bus drivers’ vision of the road environment.
Buses are heavy vehicles and can’t stop quickly. Maintain a safe stopping distance between your vehicle and a bus in front. A 3-second gap is best.

Looking forward to seeing all our students next week.
Let’s all keep each other COVID Safe by remembering that face masks are required for persons over 12 years of age and recommended for younger students if they can tolerate it.
Schools are requesting students to wear surgical rather than cloth masks. You will see our drivers will all be wearing P2 masks.
Please do not use the bus if you are experiencing any symptoms of being unwell with COVID like symptoms.
Given the increased community transmission of COVID-19 over the summer break, we have made contingency plans to do our best to ensure continuity of service.
However, we will communicate via our pinned post at the top of our page if there are any service disruptions should drivers need to isolate.
