What a great day on our visit to Dorverden, one hour north of Hanover. It was here in 1855 that Herman Praetz as a 22 year old headed off to Australia to create a life for himself in Creswell Victoria. We visited the house where he grew up with his parents 184 years ago. This is Jack and Jas’s - great, great, great, great grandparents house in Dorverden and still standing looking fantastic. Huge azaleas everyone such a sweet place.

We have seen some significant historic and socially dynamic sites in Berlin. There is so much history and the sites just dazzle and amaze. Whilst damaged significantly during WW2 the city has been rebuilt and continues to be modernized. The city is vibrant, very socially progressive and amazingly tolerant of all. We have loved the richness and history of this amazing place.

What a fascinating and moving experience to walk the trails that our brave fore fathers fought and survived in. We walked the Anzac Cove beach where these brave Anzacs landed, climbed up to view Plugges Plateau, walked Scrapnel valley, through Monash valley as we ascended to Lone Pine, up through the Nek , past Johnston Jolly. Unbelievable that these brave men with poor maps, vague orders were able to achieve what they did. We also felt for the Turkish soldiers that were protecting their own lands and also fought with bravery to protect and to hold the high grounds. Our 2 great nations share the respect and bond that was formed in these tracks and trenches. What an experience to have walked these historic sites.
