2 great trials starting soon with donor milk
Rhea wants to donate her excess breast milk. But most premature babies aren't allowed to have it A clinical trial starting this year will look at whether premature babies born later than 32 weeks might benefit from donated breast milk.
It’s common for mums to be unsure how they will combine work and continue to breastfeed.
Our Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace (BFW) accreditation helps organisations to remove the workplace as a barrier to breastfeeding. We provide support to help create a work environment with the time, space and supportive culture necessary for breastfeeding employees.

Today marks the start of World Breastfeeding Week and the grand opening of the Hunter New England Health’s photography exhibition, ‘Breastfeeding through the first 2000 days.’
The exhibition features 48 photographs from a variety of breastfeeding situations from diverse family, cultural and identity groups. Each photograph is accompanied by a story that highlights the joys and challenges of breastfeeding, empowering those who can to try to or continue to breastfeed.
Marie is just one of the breastfeeding parents showcased in the exhibition, sharing her story not only alongside her photograph but also to those who attended the grand opening event.
“Breastfeeding is one of the most challenging things I have ever done. However, it is also truly the most magical and empowering things I have ever done.
“The bond and almost unexplainable magic that exists between mother and child is amplified when breastfeeding and it is something that I will hold dear to my heart for the rest of my life.”
Our photography exhibition is on display at John Hunter Hospital now until October. It will then tour other hospitals across the District, before it is permanently displayed at maternity units throughout the Hunter and New England regions.
