Unlock your potential and embrace lasting change! πͺ
Yesterday I hit another milestone on my way to walking or running 2,024 km in 2024. I reached 1,000 km! Yeaahh!
To be honest, some days have been a struggle, especially now that we are in winter and there have been quite a few cold and rainy days. I really struggled with my motivation. What has really helped is knowing that motivation isn't the answer and I can't rely on it to achieve my goal. Taking action, however small, is.
πAction precedes motivation. π
That means I had to take action even when I was tired, didn't want to go out into the cold, or was just not interested in exercising. I told myself, just go out for 10 minutes, or for 1 km, and that was all I needed to break the inertia, and then the motivation kicked in.
And this is thanks to the part of our brain called the anterior mid-cingulate cortex (aMCC). When we challenge ourselves to do things we are not motivated to do, such as getting out of a warm bed on a cold day to exercise, the more this part of our brain develops.
By engaging in challenging tasks we activate and strengthen the aMCC, which in turn enhances our capacity for willpower and supports sustained motivation. This neural development helps us manage discomfort, stay focused on our goals, and build mental resilience and willpower over time.
So next time you donβt feel like doing something, consider that taking just one small action can help build your willpower and motivation!

We all have the power to change our thoughts, and our thoughts impact our actions and feelings. If you want to create change in your life, then true change starts from within. When you shift your mindset, watch how it can transform your life.
Exercise releases endorphins that can boost your spirits, lift your mood, and leave you feeling energised. Why not give it a go! π
π½οΈβ¨ Try using smaller plates or bowls to help control portion sizes without feeling deprived! It's a simple trick that can make a big difference in managing your intake and enjoying your meals. Mindful eating for the win! π
ππ Supplements can support your health, but they can't replace a poor diet and lifestyle. Focus instead on eating a balanced diet, staying active, and getting enough sleep. True wellness comes from healthy habits, not just pills. πΏβ¨
Feeling overwhelmed by stress? Hypnotherapy could be the solution you're looking for. By guiding you into a deeply relaxed state, hypnotherapy helps to rewire your subconscious mind, promoting calmness and reducing anxiety. Many of my clients have found this holistic approach effective for managing their stress.

πββοΈ Exercise is important, but so is rest! π
Overexercising without allowing time for recovery can lead to injury and burnout. Balance your workouts with proper rest to stay healthy and strong. Listen to your body and give it the care it deserves. πͺβ¨
The power of mindset and positive thinking can greatly impact your health. A positive outlook can boost your immune system, reduce stress, and improve overall wellbeing. Believe in your journey, and watch your health transform.
Intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating can help regulate sugar levels and promote fat burning. By limiting eating to specific windows, you may improve metabolism and support overall health. Always consult a professional before starting any new diet plan.
Herbal teas and cleanses are often marketed as quick fixes to 'reset' your body, but improved health comes from balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and proper hydration. Your body naturally detoxifies itself without needing extreme measures.

π₯Only 5-10% of Australians get their recommended daily intake of vegetables, and I wondered, how can we all get more veggies into every meal, including breakfast?
I've been trying different ways to do this with my own breakfasts, such as a cottage cheese and veg combo on toast I had earlier this week. I mixed cottage cheese, grated cucumber (I squeezed out the excess moisture first), chopped cherry tomatoes, chopped rocket leaves, some lemon juice, tabasco (I love hot sauces!) and served it on toasted soy and linseed bread. You could also top this with some sliced avocado for some good fats and well because avos are delicious! π«π½πΆ
Some other ideas are:
Vegetable Omelette: Fill an omelette with sautΓ©ed spinach, capsicum, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and a sprinkle of cheese.
Avocado Toast with Veggies: Spread mashed avocado on whole-grain toast and top with sliced cherry tomatoes, radishes, and rocket leaves.
Breakfast Burrito: Wrap scrambled eggs, black beans, diced tomatoes, avocado, spinach, and salsa in a whole-wheat tortilla.
Green Smoothie: Blend spinach, kale, banana, almond milk, and a scoop of protein powder.
Veggie Breakfast Bowl: Combine quinoa or brown rice with roasted vegetables like Brussels sprouts, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Add a poached or fried egg on top.
Cheese and spinach breakfast muffins: Mix grated cauliflower, eggs, shredded cheese, spinach, and chopped capsicum. Pour into muffin tins and bake until golden brown.
Mushrooms on toast: SautΓ© mushrooms and spinach and put on wholegrain toast or a toasted English muffin. Add a poached egg and crumbled feta.
Shakshuka: Simmer diced eggplant and tomatoes with onions and garlic. Make wells in the mixture and crack eggs into them. Cover and cook until eggs are set.
Greek yoghurt with veggie toppings: Top Greek yoghurt with diced cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, and a sprinkle of feta cheese. Add a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of oregano.
Zucchini and corn fritters: Combine grated zucchini, corn kernels, chopped green onions, flour, and eggs. Fry spoonfuls of the batter until golden brown. Serve with a dollop of sour cream or Greek yoghurt and rocket leaves.
Prioritising weight loss over overall wellbeing can be detrimental to your health. Instead, focus on balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and mental wellness. True health isn't just about numbers on a scale; it's about feeling strong, energetic, and happy in your own body.
