LONGFORD GARAGE SALE | 22 JUNE

We're holding a fundraising garage sale at the home of Manfred Schneider on Saturday the 22nd of June from 8am at Unit 2 / 46b Malcombe Street Longford.

There will be lots of kitchenware, appliances, crockery, glassware, pots and pans, containers and utensils from Manfred, as well as lots of other great items from others in the church community.

GOOD NEWS CLUB RETURNS | NEXT WEDNESDAY (13 MARCH)

Good News Club returns to Longford Parish Hall next Wednesday afternoon (3-4:30pm, 13th March) with a watermelon party, including Bible story time and games, a watermelon cake, and a 'rockin' watermelon' craft.

HARVEST SUNDAY | 10 MARCH

Please join us this Sunday at either service in Longford and Cressy as we celebrate God's goodness to us in our lives and communities.

All fresh produce brought to the services, plus any tinned and packaged foods, will be donated to the Helping Hand to be given to those in need in our communities.

After the services, we'll enjoy a shared lunch in the Longford Parish Hall.

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE | 10AM FRIDAY AT CRESSY

Join other Christians from other local churches at Holy Trinity Cressy (110 Main Street) on Friday, as we support and pray for Palestinian Christians stuck in the midst of the Israel-Hamas conflict. A light morning tea will be served afterwards.

PRAYER SUPPER | 4 MARCH

Every month, we gather together to bring our churches and world to our good and powerful God in prayer. So, we’d love you join us next Monday (4th March) for our next prayer supper from 7pm in the Parish Hall. Feel free to bring along a plate of something tasty to share or just come along to pray.

WEDNESDAY MORNING SERVICES | 9:30am LONGFORD

Following Ash Wednesday last week, Wednesday morning services will continue at Christ Church Longford during Lent, from this Wednesday, 21st February, through to the 27th of March.

The services will start at 9:30am and finish with Holy Communion.

A PRAYER FOR LENT

A prayer for Ash Wednesday and every day of Lent (from the Book of Common Prayer):

Almighty and everlasting God,
You hate nothing that you have made,
and you forgive the sins of all who are penitent:
create and make in us new and contrite hearts,
that we, worthily lamenting our sins,
and acknowledging our wretchedness,
may obtain of you, the God of all mercy,
perfect remission and forgiveness;

SHROVE TUESDAY NIGHT | NEW START TIME: 6PM FOR 6:30PM

Please note that we will be serving savoury pancakes from 6:30pm tomorrow night (rather than the previously advertised time of 7pm). Feel free to come any time after 6pm.

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE | 14 FEBRUARY

You’re most welcome to join us on the first day of Lent (Ash Wednesday) for a short service at 10am at Christ Church Longford (2 William Street). The service will conclude with the ‘imposition of ashes’, marking our foreheads with a cross of ashes to symbolise our sinfulness, mortality and need for repentance.

SHROVE TUESDAY NIGHT | 13 FEBRUARY

Before we begin the traditional ‘fasting’ season of Lent, we're going to enjoy a ‘feasting’ night on Shrove Tuesday (13 February). Join us from 7pm in the Cressy Parish Hall (110 Main Street) for some sweet and savoury pancakes, cooked by the wonderful Jon and Shellee.

LIFE OF JESUS | LENTEN STUDIES | STARTING SATURDAY

As we journey through the season of Lent, we're going to work through John Dickson's 'Life of Jesus' course at Cressy. The first of six studies will be this Saturday evening (10 February), from 7pm in the Cressy Parish Hall (110 Main Street), with supper to follow.

SUMMER OF PSALMS | THIS SUNDAY MORNING

Our Summer of Psalms continues this Sunday morning at both Longford (9am) and Cressy (11:15am), as we reflect on the way God rescues us through Jesus in Psalm 40.
