Spike's new albums Mostly Smoke and Mirrors and Lunchtime at La Cantina are available now.
May I suggest that you take time to listen to The Librarian Action Dolls (with myself on guitar and Gary Brown on dobro on this track). If you feel inclined, it’d be great to have you ‘follow’ them and like the video - the Action Dolls are just getting started, but their more traditional country sound and harmonies will be welcomed by anyone who enjoys ‘real’ music!!
It will be great to play with an "All Forbes" band - Graeme (keyboards) and Neville (guitar) Molloy, David (drums) McDade and John (bass) Newell - on 20th and 22nd of October. That's also the Forbes Rodeo weekend! Original Forbes based songs as well as a good selection of "Hometown music" (what's that, you ask? It's country and blues + a little beyond!). See you there!
From Sam Pierre -
“From Sam's side, we love songwriters. Yesterday as the late Bob Martin, today as Spike Flynn and Ellis Paul, and tomorrow as Rodney Rice and Zach Aaron. And then we also love the bluesmen of the Massif Central, more precisely the Bourbonneis, which are The Marshals. All of this with Coyote's Cry.”

Spike Flynn From a review of Spike's previous CD - "Just this Side of Here is an album that restores your faith in ‘one man, one guitar’ sets, and shows that the best of them – and this is one of those – still have much to say and much worth hearing." My seventh album of songs is now available from Bandcamp (best value, best quality download site).
Support original, independent songwriters lest we all just wander off into the desert, never to return! The Lachlan River flows by my home town. It has many stories to tell.

A song, Memory Plagues, from my soon to be released album Lachlan River Blues.
Well, here’s a song that’s soon to be released on my album “Lachlan River Blues”. It’s a long song… a story about another Jesus. Maybe another. Maybe the famous one. Or part of him. Jesus may have worked on the railways one time, some other universe. The bass is played by the lovely and talented Tim Watts. This is from a different time, in a land far away. Lithgow art gallery I believe. Hang in there, it’s quite a story. Belated Happy Easter everyone.

Jesus the Railway Man Spike Flynn - My song 'Jesus the Railway Man' performed at Gang Gang Gallery, Lithgow, April 2019. With Tim Watts on bass.
My new album of original country songs, "Mostly Smoke and Mirrors" is now out and about. For those out west, have a listen to track 5 "On the western side (of the Great Divide). Hopefully it's the first of a series of country albums. It's a bit broken hearted at times but also celebrates the area 'west of the Great Divide'. Country music has always been at the heart of my songwriting though not always obviously expressed as such. Well, there's no doubt in theses songs! Please share/buy or whatever. Click on the image for the full information on Bandcamp. Great country songs - 'you can take the boy out of the country...' Thanks to Don McGuire of radio 2PK Parkes for instilling a love of country music all those years ago, when I was but a boy.

As a young fellow the Forbes Show was a very big event in the yearly cycle. And the boxing tent was so exciting! The drum, the spruiking, the colour, the crowds, the sawdust. The boxing tents have a history that is clouded by the issues of race. Strange days indeed. “Strange fruit”, you might almost say. Still, this old world with all its human faults, injustices and frailties continues on. We all need to “Go another round” at times in our life.
