One of the greatest pieces of advice we can offer young FIFO couples (or any couple for that matter) is that life isn’t a competition. You’re both exhausted!! This did still make us giggle though. 😘
100% accurate 😂
Be kind to yourself, today and always. ❤️
Today is World Mental Health Day and the message this year is: Awareness. Belonging. Connection.
It’s a call to action for us to be aware of our mental health and wellbeing, and the challenges those around us are facing.
A reminder to show someone they belong, that they’re safe, supported and not alone, and an opportunity to connect with those you care about - friends, family and colleagues - and ask ‘are you OK?’.
Not just today, but any day it’s needed 💛

How deep is your love? 👰🤵 For Leinster lovebirds Aleese and Ryan, it was 1.1 kilometres underground! The newlyweds exchanged vows in front of a small audience of their Nickel West colleagues in Western Australia this week. A big congratulations to the happy couple! 📷: Sara Hannagan Photography

Wow what a beauty from It’s the biggest Skid Steer ever built. Now if someone could enlighten this mining wife on what it does please. I’ve learnt about a lot of machinery over the years but never about this one.

Now this is something we don’t have to deal with in Australia. Thanks to and for this amazing image. The 360km ice road pictured is the only transport January to April from the Russian Kupol mine to the port. Imagine that! 😳

A big shout out to the Ryan family who did the right thing and prevented a COVID-19 outbreak in SA.
I called them on the weekend to convey my thanks on behalf of South Australians and wish them a speedy recovery.
This pandemic has been tough on so many fronts, but by listening to the health advice and working together we have kept the people of SA safe and our economy strong 💪🏻

With so many resource workers unsure of when they’ll be home next to see loved ones, take a moment to remind your loved one you care. This photo was taken 12 years ago when hubby was away on site for longer than expected. It still makes him smile 🥰
We’re thinking of miners and their families all over Australia as we brace for more restrictions. Thanks to for this brilliant shot which sums up how we’ve all just got to do our bit. Take care and you’re all in our thoughts ❤️
With growing fears of a COVID outbreak among Australian miners, we're reminded of this simple truth. Look after each other.

Want to be a happy FIFO family in 2021? Here's a few thoughts to get you started...
PRACTISE an attitude of gratitude. Sure, there are always problems and challenges to be overcome, but try to train your thoughts to focus on the good stuff. REMEMBER that kids of all ages thrive on routine, so set daily schedules and strong boundaries. Kids also tend to wear our anxiety, so try not to let them see or hear you being overly negative. Of course it’s important that you don’t bottle all this up – just try to keep the kids out of earshot.
EAT well, avoid too much alcohol and get some sleep.
DON'T sweat the small stuff. When you’re angry about an individual issue, ask yourself “will I remember this argument/issue in a month’s time?” If not, try not to let it worry you now. When/if you do argue, don't generalise (i.e. “you NEVER pick up after yourself") or catastrophise (i.e. “you don’t love me” or “we’re not meant to be together”). Instead focus on the issue at hand (i.e. "darling, it really bothers me when you don't pick up your dirty socks").
SET a good, smart family goal for the year ahead, to get you through the tough times.
IGNORE the occasional comments of friends and family who don't understand the FIFO lifestyle. Just focus on why it works for you.

Let’s be honest – Valentine’s Day often comes and goes for busy couples without too much hearty fanfare. But after the year we’ve just had, maybe 2021 is the year to succumb to a little romance. So here are six sexy ways to stay loved up when you’re apart on February 14. (And note we’re getting in early to give you all time to think ahead. You can thank us later.)
1. If you’re away on site, spend five minutes ordering a gift online to be delivered on the day. If your partner has a favourite local shop that doesn’t home deliver, give them a ring (offering a few details on price range and the stuff your partner’s into) and pay over the phone before sending your partner a February 14 text of love and directions on where to collect.
2. Enlist the kids. If they’re old enough, ask them to draw a card of family love from you to your partner. On the day, ring home and get the kids on the line so you can ask them to put down the phone to surprise Dad/Mum with a bombardment of Valentine’s Day kisses.
3. Book a romantic night away for next time you’re together (make it flexible and keep it close to home to avoid the disappointment of travel restrictions) and send the online booking details in a February 14 message with “This is where I’m going to thank you babe for everything you do for us”.
4. Start a Valentine’s texting ping pong list of all the fun things you want to do together when you’re in the same room (without the kids).
5. Text a selfie and say “This is all yours!” (We can’t advocate sexting, but you’re grownups so that's totally up to you.)
6. If all else fails, text a love heart on February 14. Sometimes short and sweet says it all.
