Steven and Priya have been collaborating together for many years hosting immersive retreats and events that focus on the powerful combination of sound therapy with yoga. Their complementary skill sets bring a balanced and accessible exploration of healing modalities for men and women of all ages.

My new work Bindjaerb Pinjarra Animated is opening tonight as part of Strange Fest 2023.

A collaboration with illustrator Kambarni and the team behind the original play of Bindjareb Pinjarra Kelton Pell, Geoff Kelson and Phil Thomson and featuring a cast of young Noongar actors.

Come watch it in Yagan Square playing daily from 6am to 8pm daily from 16-25th of June.

About the work:
Premiere animated work based on the deadly / important satirical theatre show ‘Bindjareb Pinjarra.’ Originally an improvised comedy about WA’s Pinjarra Massacre created and performed by Noongar and Wadjella actors, now reimagined as a cartoon illustrated by Kambarni (Ballardong Noongar / Nimunburr / Yawuru decedent visual artist) and animated by Steven Alyian (Boorloo-based media-artist). A black comedy and crucial history lesson about the mass killing of Noongar people at Pinjarra on October 28, 1834 – an event recorded as the Battle of Pinjarra but mourned by local Noongar as a massacre.

It is the final day of 2021. Time to take harvest. Members of the Orchestra travelled out to the desert to do some recording with Drew Goddard in the old Coolgardie Train station - the results of which will be coming out in 2022

The Epic of Gilgamesh @ Perth Festival w/ The Church of Belligerence
Ninja brought back the Epic with aplomb, and we took it to The Rechabite with the help of the church - expect to see more of this in 2022 as we ramp up this reboot of this tale and take it to some even bigger stages and locations - TBA!

Museum of Freedom and Tolerance - In Visible Ink 2021
I was honoured to be asked to take care of the media and production for this crucial event at the WA Museum, showcasing marginalised voices in art and activism over 4 days.

Ninja got the dream gig of travelling into the dark depth of Tassie in winter to perform at Dark M**o. We a thrilled to pull it off. We took our 6 week old baby and he made friends with Thurston Moore. The best of times.

I hooked up with the geniuses at Tiller Rides to showcase their new electric bike which is now going into production! Congregations to the whole team!

I was Artist in Residence at The Cannery in September and put together this massive multi projection and sound installation reflecting on my time in this beautiful region

Australian Psychedelic Society - Perth - Integration Circles
The APS asked for assistance in hosting safe spaces for community building and harm reduction around substance use, four weeks of what we now realise was an essential space that was needed by many people in our community.

Mundaring Arts Centre
MAC asked me to help out with their Food for Thought, Hold and Nalda Searles exhibitions this year co-ordinating videography and promotion. It's always great working with the team at MAC and I look forward to doing some more work with you in the new year.

Honoured to announce my new exhibition 'Exoterica IV: Kepa Kurl' is now open to the public at the Cannery Arts Centre in Esperance, WA from now until October 22nd.

As artist in residence developed a new work to display in the gallery and the result was an immersive multimedia experience that incorporates film and audio recordings of the incredible flora and fauna of the Esperance region.

Thanks so much to the Cannery Arts Centre, all the staff and especially curator Jess Ricciardo for having me as their guest this month. I'll be here for the next week doing a series of workshops for both kids and adults in Photography, Filmmaking and more...

Exoterica IV: Kepa Kurl

Sound and Video Installation

An immersive and reflective multimedia exhibit inspired by the environment of the Esperance region. Created whilst staying at The Cannery as ‘Artist in Residence’ in September 2021, Steven visited natural locations in the region recording audio and video of places that invoked a sense of stillness. Artefacts such as bones and flowers were taken from each of these locations and used to create geometric patterns featured in each works. All elements are manipulated into a visionary music and video tapestry that simulates extra-sensory perception, reflecting the inherent and immaculate design of the natural flora and fauna of the Esperance region.
