Does your lower back ache when you lie prone on your box or your mat when practicing this exercise or other back extension exercises?

We explored one area today that can aggravate pain. When you look at the first photo you can see there is an arc happening in the clients lower back and her legs are quite lifted.
After I made her aware and asked her to gently lengthen the tailbone back to the heels and to press the hip bones and p***c bone into the box the curve in her lower back changed instantly as you can see on the 2nd photo. Maintaining this now as the upper back lifts into extension will be practice and if you would like to practice it at home, you can easily do that on a mat.
Doesn’t the posture in the 2nd photo look so much more effortless?

Class prep in Pyjamas 😅

Always great to have a feel in your own body what you are planing to do at class with the students. 😉
Anyone who has done Reformer or Barre or Fitness with me in the past knows how serious I take my job in helping people to feel better and move better.
Today I revisited a few of the lectures I listened to as part of my course and was reassured to the way I approach my teaching. I do like to do things well, wether that be learning a new skill or an exercise and try to bring that across in class. There is no point progressing exercises if we can’t execute the basics well. We like to say practice makes perfect but only if we practice that exercise perfectly or let’s say correctly, then we can progress safely and see Pilates as a way to connect the mind, body and soul.

It’s been a huge past 12 months for me. Working in the Industrie I love, trying to inspire as many students as possible to move better and feel better.
Finishing off my studies with Polestar in a few weeks to become a clinical Pilates teacher is beyond exciting 💫
I am immensely grateful for the support of the teachers and my educator I met along the way and all the new tips, cues, explanations, ideas they have passed on 💜

We are often in a hurry, trying to be somewhere or to do something. Constantly rushing and quickly doing this and that can be so exhausting.
Not sure how you feel but I need a few minutes during the day to sit down and to breathe.
It helps me to calm down, to reset and to prioritise so I feel less overwhelmed as the day goes on. And I don’t invest my energy where it’s not needed;-)

Virabhadrasana III or Warrior 3

is the last of the series of the Warrior poses and requires inner focus, strength and courage.
Virabhadra represents the Hindu warrior, ready to strike, to go into battle.

On a physical level this pose strengthen the entire back side of the body and works the small muscles in our feet and ankle and improves balance.

All things we need to age well, to stay strong, focused, calm and courageous.

So go on and take on this week, be fierce and don’t forget to have fun 🤍

A little sneak peak what was on offer today in our Barre class. 💙
Oh how I missed the wall mounted Barre! For me it’s the concept of moving and working the whole body through various planes and ranges of movement that makes it the perfect workout. It’s low impact but you still end up sweaty and thirsty after class.
I love it! And that’s why I love to teach others this amazing form of movement.
