BREAKING NEWS: Advantage+ Audience should be avoided!

The latest Advantage+ Audience feature claims to get up to 33% improved results. This technology aims to reach out of your set preferences such as age, gender, and keywords to obtain this performance.

It seems this "extended" audience pool can make up to 95% of the audience that ads reach out to. For example, a women's swimwear ad targeted at women, can end up being targeted at majority men, due to their high engagement with the content.

Also, feedback received from other agencies is that this new audience technology tends to retarget people based on what the system thinks will end up in a conversion, leading to higher frequencies.

So, in a nut shell, don't use it if your product requires a targeted audience.

Absolute corporate greed!

By the end of the month, Apple will be charging you an additional 30% service fee if you boost a post via the Facebook or Instagram app.

Yep, you read that right! You are billed through Apple and that’s where they will add their 30% “service fee”.

So, how do you avoid this hand reaching into your pocket? Simply boost from your desktop, laptop or if you have to boost via your phone, you’ll have to log into Facebook/Instagram through the browser (we suggest Chrome), not the app itself.

We love it when a new client comes on stating there's always a downturn in January. 😂

Well, $10,291 went out, $157,752 came in and the increase in ROAS jumped up an average of 27% compared to the previous month.

What you don't see here is we spent $381 less in Ad spend and made $27,950 more in sales compared to the previous month. 😎👍

Meta recently announced trialing a plan in Europe to give users the option of paying per month for Ad free version of the platform.

Interestingly, Nine News ran a poll asking Australians if they would pay for an Ad free Facebook. The result? Out of the 2,100 reactions we saw, only 231 voted yes.

Facebook are at it again!

Meta have rolled out (or are in the process of rolling out) another massive update. As usual, every update comes with a few bugs that are usually ironed out quickly. However this most recent update has produced bugs that are far beyond any I’ve had the (dis)pleasure of dealing with.

Errors currently include:

Ad rejections beyond reasonable acceptance levels
Ad approvals granted but ads not feeding out
Ads that are turned off or completed still feeding out
Ad account and Page not recognising each other
Ads scheduled to run in the ad account only posting to the page unexpectedly
Copy and assets interchanging (both on ads and scheduled posts)
Scheduled posts disappearing but posting twice a few days later
Scheduled posts not going live
Reels and video not showing data
Etc

Please keep an eye on your social accounts and I would love to know if you see anything unusual that I haven't mentioned.

Lots of product, lots of quality content and lots of budget equals lots of sales.

Understanding ROAS and Ad spend 09/06/2023

Thought for the day: Where were the sales which attributed to Campaign A after completion actually from?

Were they sales from the first campaign that simply were late in their attribution?
Or
Were the sales actually from Campaign B, but due to using the same audience, did the attribution go towards the ads that the purchaser saw first?

What a bunch of clowns!!!

This morning we ran an account audit for a prospective new client who was not getting any joy from their exisiting 'big multi-award winning agency'.

What we found was so unbelievably horrific, we just couldn't believe our eyes. Let's explain:

1. They were targeting New York, California State and New Jersey, everyone from 18 to 65+ years of age, over 5 different Ads on......$8 per day! 😂🤣

2. They duplicated the ads sets, changed the audience name but forgot to change the audience itself. 😂😝

3. They were running a "did you like the product" ad to a cold audience. 😂🤣

That's just the start of it!

This is what makes us so angry, when so called expert award winning agencies produce such crap and achieve nothing but damaging the industry.

Here’s a little interesting titbit for you, a long term, hugely successful evergreen Ad we’ve had running for a client for the past 8 years without issue has just been rejected for the first time due to an algorithm change.

A little edit and it’s now up and running again.

This is a prime reminder that things are always changing and even 'old faithfuls' can and will come to an end one day.

Facebook announced today they are starting to roll out Meta Verified -- a subscription service that lets you verify your account with a government ID, get a blue badge, get extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you, and get direct access to customer support.

Mark Z explains his new feature is about increasing authenticity and security across their services. Meta Verified starts at $11.99 / month on web or $14.99 / month on iOS. They'll be rolling out in Australia and New Zealand this week and more countries soon.
