Townsville’s Iconic Rock Fest Goes COUNTRY!

In the biggest announcement in the Townsville Rock Festival’s history and an early Christmas present for country music fans, organisers have today announced that this music festival will now be transformed into “COUNTRY BY DAY AND ROCK BY NIGHT.”

This year’s festival will be showcasing Australian Country Music stars TROY CASSAR-DALEY, THE McCLYMONTS,Voice winner JUDAH KELLY and sibling group HOMEGROWN. They are joined by TONY COOK and BROOKE “JOSIE” ROBERTS. The public has also decided by a public poll for the support local rock band “Bad Influence.”

“We are very proud to release this stellar line-up, and are sure that these incredible performers will entice people to travel to Townsville from all over Queensland to attend the Festival in October this year,” Mr Wilson said.

“Country music is a huge market that just wasn’t getting the platform it deserved here in Townsville for live performances so we thought; why not bring the best of both worlds to our concert? We have spent the past months researching and the feedback from all our focus groups was to combine the both.”

Troy Cassar- Daley is an enormously successful artist, much adored by country music fans across Australia. Troy’s career has spanned 10 studio albums over 30 years. Throughout this time he has been awarded numerous accolades including 4 ARIA’s, 32 Golden Guitars, 2 APRA Country Song of the Year Awards, 9 Deadlys (Australian Indigenous Artist Awards)

The McClymonts have long been Australia’s best-loved and most successful country group, with a stunning 20 hit singles, 2 Gold-Certified albums, 10 Golden Guitars – including 5 for Group or Duo of the Year – and 2 ARIAs for Best Country Album to their credit, along with a US Country Music Association Award for Global Artist of the Year. The trio’s three most recent releases each soared to the No. 1 spot on the Australian Country Albums Charts and broke into Top 10 spots on the ARIA All-genre Albums Charts.

The event was rebranded from Not 2 Old 2 Dance which was born when a Townsville local was told to sit down at a concert because he was “too old to dance”. The event is still marketed as a night of great live music and nostalgia for festival-goers.

“We haven’t gone away from our original intent for this festival, which is to make a platform for charities to raise money, to buy local and support Townsville business. Everything generated from this concert will have a direct economic and social impact on our beautiful city,” says Luke.
