Headstart Mandarin
Our Mandarin program is play and inquiry based, combining online curriculum with weekly classes to m English and MA.
HEADSTART MANDARIN provides fun-filled Mandarin classes on the Northern Beaches
- Pre-schoolers Playgroups (age 3-5)
- After school classes (k-6)
- Private tutoring
Founded and run by two local mums :
- Echo: native Chinese speaker holding BA. Translation and Interpreting
- Jing : native Chinese speaker and piano player designing innovative music based classes
🎉HeadStart Mandarin, participate in “Hello Mandarin” Australia national recital competition.
We had 3 groups participate, and they won:
1️⃣ Grand finalist 🏆
2️⃣ First place 🥇
3️⃣ Second place 🥈
We were in a bit of rush this year starting to prepare in end of April. Next year, we will start early, and hopefully some of our Non background speakers can join in 👍

We are very excited to return to St Luke’s on campus after a year of online learning!
Starting from Term 2, 2021, we will run three classes every week for Level 1, Level 2 and background speakers.
Looking forward to our Mandarin journey with our wonderful students!

Today is the Lantern Festival which marks the 15th day of the Chinese New Year celebration. Our partner school John Colet has organised a full day celebration to provide students the opportunities for culture immersion.
Headstart is providing the following classes at John Colet in 2021:
1. Background Level 1 - Weds 3:15-4:45 pm (Library)
2. Background Level 2 - Thurs 3:15-4:45 pm (Shakespeare Room 3)
3. Background Level 3 - Thurs 3:15-4:45 pm (Shakespeare Room 4)
4. Non Background L1 - Weds 3:15-4:45 pm (Shakespeare Room 3)
5. Background New - Tues 3:15-4:45 pm (TBC)
