What happens when Mariah’s Number One Fan and a winemaker with a German grandmother buy a still together?

You end up with this Christmas Gin!

Karina has reluctantly shown Corey Oma’s Stollen recipe and Corey has distilled it whilst playing Mariah’s Christmas album, interlaced with a dash of Bublé. And thus, the first Red Brick Road Christmas Gin was born.

This gin is silky and thick with the flavours of juniper, fresh oranges, dried fruit and spice. We’ll be sharing more tips on how to enjoy it, but if you call into the Ciderworks we currently have it on tap as a pink G&T.

This very limited release is available in 100mL and 500mL bottles so grab yours today. Oh, and there’s no surcharge if you request Mariah while tasting it.

Double, double, toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
If there’s one wish we could make,
It’s for a river not a lake.

What do you do when life gives you lemons? You fire up the cauldron and make a potion to get what you want.

Our new gin, Deloraine Dry, is a potent wish for what we want now – that it stays dry in Northern Tasmania. It’s also our spin on a classic dry gin full of juniper, citrus, cardamom and pepper, but that’s a far less poetic way to think about it.

Enid, Corey and I are willing to promise this is no hell-broth but rather a charm that is firm and good. And like our favourite charms, it is perfect sipped neat, in a zesty, citrus martini, or this summer’s driest G&T.

Launched this All Hallows Eve, the Deloraine Dry Gin is currently available in our cellar door, so call in over Craft Fair weekend and try it for yourself.

DISCLAIMER: The only red spots on our hands are the pinot noir we made the spirit from, and if any leaders are dead, literally or metaphorically, it is nothing to do with us.

It was fantastic to meet Anthony Albanese yesterday and talk about our business and the recent floods in Deloraine.

It was also wonderful to see him engaging with our community - our young people, SES volunteers, local farmers, and council workers.

We thought the view from our car park was spectacular, but here’s the footage of Surf Life Saving Tasmania securing the rogue shipping container in the Meander River.

Thank you for all your work keeping our community safe. However, we hope the next time we see you is for a drink not an emergency. 🙏🏼 🍻

16/10/2022

Fun fact: equipment works better with a minimum of two people standing around discussing how they’d do the job.

The recent flooding put a small dent in one of the side walls, but luckily that made it easier to pump out the cellar.

And… we’re open!

Come and grab a drink - it’s a great place to watch the cleanup without getting in the way.

Thank you to everyone who’s given us a hand to clean up (and a particular thank you to the person who left three escapes kegs on our doorstep).

Cheers, Corey & Karina

In some years, under rare conditions of extreme precipitation, the native keg trees flower. It’s a sign that nature is healing itself.

All our kegs are hand foraged from the banks of the Meander River. It’s just one of those little touches that makes our cider more natural than that commercial muck. 😉🍎

Follow the red brick road to discover a different taste of Tasmanian history.

We’ve all heard Tassie called the Apple Isle but did you know that Tasmanians were making and exporting ciders as early as 1835?

At RBR, we’ve always been fascinated by how fermentation & distillation give a taste of the region: it’s people, climate, history and most importantly the readily available sources of sugar. So it makes sense to use apples to craft ciders and gins when you’re living on the Apple Isle, right?!

Come & visit us to try our taste of Tasmania and experience a small piece of the history that inspired us with some of the apple industry history we have collected.

Follow the Red Brick Road...

... and discover our naturally fermented ciders - inspired by tradition, fermented with fun.

In 2008 we were having a well-lubricated dinner party with friends (as winemakers do) and we couldn’t believe how few people were making craft cider in Tasmania. After all, it is called the Apple Isle. It turns out that we must have really liked the idea, as we woke up the next morning to discover that we had registered an ABN and business name! So, we thought we may as well give it a go and our craft cider journey began.

We’re never ones to take the road most travelled (hence our name) we sold our original brand name and established Red Brick Road. Here we make craft ciders and perries according to the CAMRA real cider guidelines - local Tassie apples or pears, unfiltered, unpasteurised and non-carbonated. Why? Because we think they taste great that way. But we also love to experiment. We didn’t start making cider to stick to rules and guidelines, so you’ll always find something new and different, whether it’s hopped ciders, saison ciders or our festival classic, the Cider Rosé - a pink lady apple cider blushed with Tassie Pinot Noir.

At the heart of our business is what we believe about drinks and life: it should be fun! Food & drink is about bringing family, friends and communities together. So we’d love you to join us at one of our venues or an event near you.
