The judge for this competition will be Emma Greenslade from the UK.
Emmaโs family own the Greensfield Guernsey herd in Devon in the UK. Emma is a chef, but she also helps on the family farm and does most of their show work. She was given a heifer to show when she was starting out called Blacknor Cracker Iceberg Diana who she had a lot of success within the show ring and is classified Ex 95. She also finished 3rd in the Global Guernsey Cow of the year competition in 2017. They are currently having a lot of success with a bull they used out of her called Greensfield Dandy Dan, with both the Champion and Reserve Champion cows at the Devon County Show last week both being sired by this bull

What a class to finish this year's photo competition. These young heifers are a credit to the exhibitor/breeder. My placings are DHIJ. I feel these heifers best display the breed characters that we look for. WIth depth, strength, dairyness.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the nomination to judge the photo Competition. It has been a great show of animals that have been captured over the year.
I wish the exhibitors all the best with these animals.
Thanks Frances Hayden

There was a close placing but the heifer on top of the line is the most stylish heifer in the class and puts it all together compared to those below her. She gains an advantage over the heifer in second through her correctness of shoulder, strength through the chine and overall balance.
Second over third gains an advantage through her openness and depth of rib.
Third over fourth is another close placing but gains an advantage with her overall strength.
Fourth over fifth shows a lot more cleanliness particularly through the front end with a very powerful heifer in fifth.

Cow on top gets herself there fairly easily with a quality snug mammary system that we like to see on a 2 yo, along with great dairy strength and correctness throughout. She gains an advantage over the cow in second through her hardness of top, snugness of tail head and quality of mammary system.
Second over third gains an advantage by the strength through the front end, depth of fore and rear rib and more desirable rear legs. I admire the cleanliness of bone in the cow in third, itโs this cleanliness of bone and snugness of udder that places her over the cow in fourth.

Cow F shows the most dairyness. The fore udder attachment and teat placement places her first over cow D who has good angle of rib and depth of body, the height of rear udder places her over cow A. This cow has good hip to pin, fore udder attachment and how she stands on her front feet places her over cow E.

The E cow gets the top prize in this class with the way she stands on her feet and legs and how the mammary system just blends onto the cow beautifully.
Cow D in 2nd only just lacking the maturity and strength of the E cow.
Cow D over cow B with just a better fore udder attachment knowing this cow will go on to have many more calves yet.
Cow B over A over G over C then F

Cow D is shown to her at most best for the breed. Length Dairyness, udder. These are strong components as to why she has placed at the top for me

Amazing cow to win the class, so much strength, power, openness & wedge all complemented by a terrific mammary system. She gains an advantage over our very clean cut second place cow through her openness of chest, depth of forerib and width of rear udder.
Second over third gains an advantage with her cleanliness of bone, attachment of fore udder and height of rear udder.
Third over fourth an advantage in length of rump and angle of rib.
