The wonderful Greg Page aka... The Original Yellow Wiggle. 😲 🫶

In 2020, Greg suffered a life threatening sudden cardiac arrest while performing a fundraising concert to raise money for the devastating bushfires.

It was a moment that could have ended in tragedy, but for the fast actions of crew members and fans in the audience that night.

They saved Greg’s life thanks to their quick response - using CPR and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). 💛

Following this experience, Greg founded Heart of the Nation, a charity committed to increasing Australia's cardiac arrest survival rates through education, access to AEDs, and fostering a community where every individual is empowered to act in an emergency.

It's a topic that WiSE and our Specialist Emergency Physicians are also very passionate about.

Early pregnancy can be a time of joy, but it can also be a time of concern particularly if you experience spotting, bleeding, pain or other worrying symptoms.

We recognise that you need rapid access to Ultrasound and Pathology diagnostics and compassionate Specialist Managed Care.

WiSE Macquarie Park is thrilled to announce the launch of our Early Pregnancy Clinic suitable for patients in the first 13 weeks of pregnancy.

Patients can access Ultrasound and Pathology services from 10am - 10pm 7 days per week. Diagnostics are bulk billed upon presentation of a request form or via our Emergency clinic.

If follow up care and ongoing surveillance is required, Specialist care provided by an Obstetrician is available.

If immediate medical attention is require, we can offer same day or next day admission to hospital. We can also provide referrals to a psychologist or social workers if required.

The stats are in for June!
WiSE Macquarie Park welcomed a record number of patients to our emergency clinic. We cared for well over 3000 patients in the month of June.

Our clinic teams enacted our surge system and we are pleased to report that June's average wait time was only 15 mins, without compromising patient care.

In order to ensure our patients have the best experience at WiSE we survey all of our patients following their visit.

June's Emergency feedback score was 4.6 out of 5 despite our busy month.

Our sincere thanks to our wonderful clinic and admin teams for the work they do particularly during these busy times.

At WiSE we've re-imagined patient care when it comes to fractures and breaks.

Rather than having to travel to multiple locations for fracture care, or sit for endless hours in the hospital emergency department, we've made it convenient and easy!

If you or a loved one is suffering from a suspected fracture or break, here's how we manage it:

Step 1: You can walk-in to our Specialist Emergency Clinic where our Emergency Doctors will assess the injury and provide pain relief if needed. (no appointment needed)

Step 2: We'll arrange for an immediate Xray and / or CT diagnostics that will take place here at our clinic and results will be available shortly after.

Step 3: We'll immobilise the injury with the appropriate splints or plaster etc.

Step 4: If ongoing rehabilitation management is required, you'll receive a referral to our Fracture Clinic where our highly experienced physiotherapists and/ or Orthopaedic Surgeon will manage your recovery.

If surgery is required on the injury, our team can arrange it for you directly with the Specialist Surgeon and local hospital.

For your convenience, we have free onsite parking, lift access directly from the carpark to our clinic.

If you need assistance from your car, please call our clinic and our friendly team can assist you with a wheel chair.

The WiSE Infusion Clinic is located inside our Emergency Room and has been purpose designed for the comfort and continuous monitoring of our patients.

Our Specialist Emergency Physicians and Registered Nurses administer the iron infusion using strict safety protocols.

Our Macquarie Park and Gold Coast clinics offer Iron Infusion services 7 days a week. For your convenience, we offer appointment times both during and outside of business hours.

Last weekend during the public holiday in NSW, WiSE Macquarie Park set a new record for itself treating well over 100 patients from 10am - 10pm.

Even with this large volume of walk in patients we maintained a median wait time of less than 30mins.

We thank our Specialist Emergency Physicians, nurses, radiology team, pathology lab and admin teams for efficiently implementing our surge systems that allow us to help the vast number of patients without compromising our high level of patient care.

Meet Shawn McDowell, Hand Occupational Therapist at WiSE Gold Coast.

Shawn predominately works as a Certified Hand Therapist, working with those who have Hand and Upper Limb Injuries.

This includes management &/or therapy for conditions including fractures, multi trauma, amputations, tendon/nerve/ligament repairs, carpal tunnel.

Meet Declan Drake, the lead physiotherapist at WISE Macquarie Park Fracture Clinic, where he works closely alongside the orthopaedic team from Macquarie University Hospital.

Declan is currently a physiotherapist for the Philippines Rugby 7’s team, and has previously worked with the Central Coast Mariners, supporting both their academy and A-League teams.

Declan has a special interest in treating acute sporting injuries, including wrist, hand and finger fractures, as well as complex knee and ankle ligamentous injuries.

In 1 weeks time, Declan alongside Dr Liz Swinburn and Shawn McDowell will be hosting a FREE online educational session for parents, carers and coaches of kids who play sport.
