Here is a combined celebration of and my Mum (navy blue) and her sister (light blue) in their active wear 🤣 possibly the early 1980’s. My Mum was a paediatric nurse and my aunt was a nurse in the NZ army (WWII Japan) and then became a Plunkett nurse.

Today will be an International Day of the Midwife to remember for Alice Springs Hospital midwife Eliza, after finding out one of the hospital's newest arrivals has been named after her! 💞

New mum Vistaria called her baby girl Eliza after receiving antenatal care from Midwife Eliza. 👶👩‍⚕️

Around 450 midwives are employed across the Territory, to support the birth of around 3,200 babies each year.

Midwives provide care during pregnancy, labour, and birth – and in the early postnatal period including childbirth education and breastfeeding support.

This is my dad and today he would have turned 100! Today in Australia it is 25 April - ANZAC Day (Australian New Zealand Army Corps) the day we commemorate the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the Australian forces at home and around the world. Dad served in Europe in the RAAF during WWII in 460 Squadron Lancaster Bombers, he was shot down over Berlin on 25 January 1944 (a crew of 7, 4 died, and the 3 survivors became POW’s). Dad died on Good Friday - 9 April 1982. (He certainly picked significant days to come into and depart this world!) I was fortunate he retired when I was 10 years old and so became my primary carer as Mum went back to work. I loved spending time with him.
